Tracfone issues. Add minutes to activate
 

Some members are reporting that you must add minutes in order to activate a tracfone as of recent. And therefore calling tracfone "dead". This does not make it dead.

Tracfone allows 4 number changes per year per phone/account as stated in their terms of service. So even if you add the minutes to activate and that number ends up not working, you can change the number and the minutes bought will transfer over.

Buy the minutes to activate. Simply as that. With 4 phone number changes allowed per year it's worth it. I'm sure if you come up with a really good reason they would change it more than 4.

Yeah, except now it costs 25 dollars for 4 numbers....previously it was $5.

Tracfones are no longer cost effective. Simple as that.

Unless you have a stake in the company, I can't see why you don't understand that....

Is changing the number fairly painless? Do I call customer service or can it be done online?

They have $10 plans to add 50 or 60 minutes for 1 month of service.
