how do spammers get ahold of tracfone numbers?

crazy question i know. i ask because one of mine got a text from a prostitute or w/e they are. i only ever use the tracfones for yahoo verification, ebay verification, and seldomly paypal.

so is yahoo, ebay, and paypal selling these numbers?

He might have got a recycled number....those can occur with these tracfones due to popularity...

I dont think eb or pp sells these numbers - yahoo might be crackable...

Might be that ppl can pull phone numbers easier from yahoo database...

Maybe you used your phone number in something online random form or so?

I would think it is tied to whomever had the number before you. I get all kids of calls on new tracfones - mostly from collection agencies and banks where the previous user bounced checks. But there are the occasional racy texts and honest people just looking for the person who had the number. I love it when they ask me if I know how to reach the person...
