EMS Shipping Delays Lately??

Hey Guys,

I don't know but it seems like all of my suppliers right now are having a trouble shipping the stuff to me- has this been the case for anyone else?

I'm just worried but all of the sellers are telling me that...anyone else?

Thanks in advance-

JohnnyBoy 06-11-2009 03:06 PM

I recently ordered something on the 3rd and got it on the 9th of this month. 7 day shipping as usual.

philly387 06-11-2009 03:29 PM

Lately it has taken an extra day or so to get through customs...might be a little backed up

Maddawgxxl 06-14-2009 01:02 PM

Half my packages sit with customs for about 3 days and the other half pass right by... guess its hit or miss!

aking 07-01-2009 07:46 PM

I dont like the EMS tracking online, it seems like it doesn't update or something. I have had my package "dispatched from sorting center" since 6/25. Its not 7/1 with the same status. I dont know whats going on or if my stuff has even hit customs yet.

talk-planet 07-01-2009 07:59 PM

EMS is really slow, takes a few days for the tracking number to even show up in there system. I would worry yet. Just expect it to get to you some where from 7-15 days.

aking 07-01-2009 08:08 PM

Yea, I just hate the variation with EMS shipping. Sometimes it takes like 4 days to get here and sometimes its like 10. Esp. when you have products on back order. As many times as I have ordered from China with EMS shipping, I have gotten all my packages. My supplier keeps telling me don't worry, he has he courier on top of it and to just give it a few more days.

imhungry114 07-01-2009 08:36 PM

I think a lot of it has to do with the seller. Some send the box out right away, and some let the order sit a few days before dropping it off. I have had a couple of late orders lately as well, but I have been ordering from new suppliers also:noidea:

kxmlaile 07-01-2009 09:25 PM

the EMS shipping was delayed recently because Chinese Custom is cracking down the export of ⊗⊗⊗⊗ goods within that period of time .they stopped all the packages outbound of China via EMS and was checking if there were ⊗⊗⊗⊗ goods inside ..

Here We Go Again 07-01-2009 09:26 PM

Last time I have a order from over seas that was sent EMS...
2 packages arrived in 10 days from the day I ordered it to the day it was at my door.
The 3rd package took 15 days order to door.
This took place within the last 3 weeks.

philly387 07-01-2009 10:40 PM

I received a package I ordered thursday night on tuesday...fastest shipment ever from china!

aking 07-02-2009 07:01 AM

Doesn't look like my package is going to arrive today. Looks like I probably won't be receiving my package until next week since this weekend is a holiday. :(

upsidedown 07-02-2009 07:44 AM

Realized that it also depends on the city from which the seller ships it- one of my suppliers gets the package to me on the 4th day after I pay and another takes a week and a half- but how much do your guys' larger packages weigh? I wonder if that has something to do...

I had a package come normally last week weighing almost 20 kilos but I don't know how feasible this is for long term

aking 07-02-2009 08:05 AM

I noticed that my package has gone to 3 different sorting centers in china. ????

aking 07-02-2009 08:13 AM

Has anyone ever received a package at their door even though the ems tracking system never updated?

Mine usually follow this route and next thing is arrival in JFK so yes, usually a few sorting centers but this process usually goes by pretty quickly- expecting the package tomorrow :D

But for your second question, I've NEVER gotten a package when it didn't show up online (unless of course the seller gave you a wrong tracking number- some do this just to buy themselves some more time)

upsidedown 08-25-2009 08:39 AM

One of my suppliers just told me that the Shanghai office is shut down for now- can anyone else confirm this? So for now, only Beijing is open- wonder what kinds of delays this is going to cause

Burst 08-25-2009 10:03 AM

Theyre not shut down. Theyre having some trouble with invoices or are in trouble with something to do with invoices.

aking 08-25-2009 11:01 AM

well see, i just had something shipped yesterday.

inleague2003 08-25-2009 11:59 AM

EMS/customs has been brutal lately.Within the last month i had 4 packages confiscated by customs.I'm beginning to wonder if i'm on a black list with customs. This completely irritates me because i finally have a system down with Ebay that seems to be working. Now i gotta worry if i get my products or not.I swear if is isn't one thing its another.

try having the package shipped to another address and see if you have the same problem

Lyda 08-25-2009 09:51 PM

Maybe this is the case with China EMS only. I get my items shipped by EMS from other Asian countries and they are here in 5 days.

aking 08-25-2009 09:55 PM

yea, you have to change your shipping address every now and then. I had my stuff sent to a different address and it came in like 4 days.

arsgunner77 08-26-2009 01:16 PM

ya have shipped to another address all though that may not correct the problem, ive had over 50 packages delievered to the same address this year and havent had one problem...the problem with custom is how big the package is

my supplier wont ship anything under 5-6kg...he said ems people in china said thats about the weight they wont have problems and i havent had any at all

Burst 08-26-2009 09:03 PM

Weight has nothing to do with it.

fairgo 08-27-2009 01:15 AM

getting around EMS + Rate Hikes

Oct 1st would be the 60th anniversary of the founding of the P.R.China. Security level is rising so the transportation of particular goods is becoming more and more difficult since last week. The freight rate has raised by 12% and it's still raising.

A lot of suppliers will have to add a 3% additional freight charge from tomorrow until Sep 1st. After Sep 1st it's hot season, EMS freight will increase more, and so the suppliers will increase accordingly.

Also Shanghai EMS has stopped taking certain (especially HOT items) shipments. So we have to redirect it to export from Beijing.

Hope this helps :)

i use 2 suppliers..one ships big packages and his packages are the only ones that have been inspected by customs and one package was actually held for over 30 days, all his are at least 10kg

my main supplier all 4-6kg and never a problem..if you think weight has nothing to do with it,do 20kg ems..guarantee you wont get all yer shipments..thats way too risky

Burst 08-27-2009 06:47 AM

Before you start to really irritate me. Let me lay some things down.

Weight has absolutely nothing to do with customs holding a package. A seller has had MANY high weight packages go in and out of customs without any issues at all. More than just the usual 4-6KG package. That seller is not the only one who can confirm this.

What DOES matter is how your supplier is filling out the information on the paperwork, where its being sent to, how theyre packaging it, and whats inside. Along with quite a few other things. And Im telling you weight is not one of them.

Unless you work for customs personally I would suggest you get some manners and read the boards more for posts of this nature.

nobody999 08-27-2009 09:25 AM

you tell him burst~!

moomooj 08-27-2009 10:00 AM

My friends in Shanghai told me they found coke in EMS package, so all shipments from China are being delayed.

what's wrong with shipping soft drinks?

JohnnyBoy 08-27-2009 04:57 PM

I think arsgunner might mean the size of the packaging. I've noticed that smaller packages do arrive faster.

Burst 08-27-2009 07:07 PM

He definitely meant weight when he posted that.

I thought nobody was trying to be funny haha

nsh003 08-27-2009 09:42 PM

burst is right. it has nothing to do with it. it has plenty more to do with what's inside of the package. and the paperwork and how it gets filled out is so critical. in my opinion it is the most important aspect to any package.

i was...i guess it backfired :)

wilburnet 08-28-2009 05:01 AM

Yes my supplier had also informed me that EMS was closed 4-5 days this week, i had an item going to New Zealand i haven't checked the tracking number yet. A few times lately i have noticed that item has returned to supplier at Chinese customs then they have to reissue new tracking number. They still deliver max 14 days so they are still a great posting service

Thats about the average. A seller once had a package arrive in one day. However, customs held it so the shipment was delivered at the average time span.
