Bad luck or something else?
 

So my first ever import package was turned over to customs by DHL. It cleared customs in Cincinnati but when it arrived at the destination city tracking info stated to call DHL and confirmed it was turned over to customs. Just bad luck or something else?

What's in it? Where's it from? Don't have to be superspecific - just generally speaking...

Branded speakers. Origin HK. Small package, but it seems odd they’d pull it at destination city after clearing customs when it initially arrived stateside. Is my address and name burned?

They dont ban address and names, but they are more likely now to pull and check anything you import going forward.

Fine a new address and dont import branded products :)

If your items were turned into Customs for confiscation, I probably would not be buying that item again.

What does DHL say when you call them?

They said the package was handed to customs and if they decide to release it could take 30days.

I meant beyond the obvious lol. And they wouldn’t know if it was branded or not until they got into the package. Right?

They may know this is a supplier of phake goods. They have computer records, you know.

So many different factors decide whether a package goes for inspection or not.

Could be your address has been flagged up. Could be the address its being sent from has been flagged up. Can also be a completely random check.

If you have had parcels seized before, odds are this wasn't random.

It if came from a supplier that they know to supply knock off items then they could well know

From my understanding in the US your not going to see this shipment and you will get a letter about it asking for your permission to destroy it

No I’ve never had anything seized before. But I guess only time will tell if it was random or not.

If it does get seized, I wouldn't risk buying branded items again. :)

Odds are it'll get flagged up to get inspected, and the same thing will happen.

Gotcha. My supplier says they haven’t had any issues but they could just be saying that to minimize their fault.

They are not going to say anything other than its not their fault and they have never had an issue before :)

Every single box I get is opened and inspected by Customs and I get orders multiple times a week for years. Sometimes container loads.

Wow. Seriously? They can’t inspect every single package. Maybe just certain item classifications?

My items are 100% safe. Nothing shady as far as customs are concerned. ALL branded and packaged goods(my brand, not a major VERO brand like Nike or similar) and yes, pretty much every box will say Customs Inspection and be re-taped. Sometimes just re-taped. With UPS, they dont even always re tape the boxes(worst company for importing IMO)

My suggestion is to not buy that stuff :) or use EMS and get it in a 7-Never days.

Haha, my bad. I should have clarified. But yeah, not much at all. Hoping it was just bad luck.
