Uk bound shipment seized by german customs
 

Hi All,

Just need some advice hear I recently had a shipment seized in Germany Leipzig although this was a UK bound and shipment was sent via DHL coming from Hong Kong.

Their was nothing vero in the shipment just mobile device charging cables nothing was branded now all I’ve been told by DHL is that it’s been seized and it won’t be delivered and that they can’t assist anymore.

My question is why is German customs seizing goods which are not bound for Germany?

The worst is no one can help and I’ve called German customs but they don’t speak in English so it’s an absolute nightmare just wanted some advice of what I can do.

Because DHL's main hub is Leipzig, which is the EU port of entry.

Not the least bit unusual for a given country Customs to stop a package from outside their country if they had concerns about it.

For example, I once has a package stopped by US Customs for review before it left Hong Kong (DHL). Eventually they were able to clear the package and get it though after a few days.

That’s weird because sometimes I get shipments direct to the UK without ever transmitting through Germany.

The paper trail and updates goes through Germany. The package itself doesnt as far as I am aware (I stand to be corrected on that if I am wrong)

No the package does I was told this by DHL hence my shipment is with German customs and not UK customs.
