Shipping help for my sales on ebay
 

I have 23X23X16 inch boxes that weigh from 6 to 14 lbs and man I am getting torched for shipping costs. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or saver methods to help me. I am using ebay to buy the labels usually USPS and they seem the cheapest but any secrets please to help with costs!

Sounds like you might be stuck with priority and/or cubic.

Buy larger shipments to cut on costs or add more postage into the final price. Maybe bundle or cross sell if you can.

Dont think theres much else.

yeah they are items I am selling and they are going to individual buyers on ebay.
so USPS parcel select is the best method, no secret like creating fedex account or choosing another shipping option, anything?

that is one of my big problems buyers have complained a couple times on the shipping cost because it seems so high and I agree with them

Might be worth looking into an account. Discounts you get I believe are from how much you ship with them.

You need to play around with the shipping costs between USPS, FedEx, and UPS for EACH delivery to get the best shipping cost. Also play with the size of the boxes within the shipping calculator. Use zip codes for places that you normally ship to as a reference. Also are you using calculated shipping or fixed? Also how heavy are the items vs the boxes?

the item is 99% of the weight for sure, they are motorcycle gas tanks. I cant make the boxes any smaller really and the tanks are mint so they really need to be protected as good as possible. thanks for the replies!

I would definitely consider making the shipping aspect part of the sale. State that you double box to ensure their satisfaction the first time around. Show pictures of the tank bubblewrapped and in a box, then peanut packed into a larger box. Honestly it probably won't cost you much more to do, but the shipping pictures will look so much more impressive that they may believe they are getting an even higher grade premium product - which would translate into you being able to charge more and them expecting to pay more for shipping. You can also insure them cheaply and then state the shipping cost includes insurance as most people would assume the higher shipping cost is because of all of this. Finally, on the generic tanks - have you considered having your supplier drop ship them on your behalf? Hope this helps.

all very good ideas but the real issue is the cost, customers are just like man wow the price is so high for the shipping.

I did not read anything above buy that size item may do very well with SurePost and SmartPost. It does take a little time to get setup with fedex or UPS for this but worth the in investigation for sure. SmartPost really shines at 1-4 pounds but quite possibly your packages too.

any idea how to get a quote without going through all the loops to find out it does not make a difference?
