EMS tracking not updating?
 

Hi so I'm not sure if this is the write forum or website in general to ask for this, but I'm desperate and need some help!

I ordered a pair of shoes via KoreanBuddy (kind of middle man that buys things for you from websites that only ship in/to Korea) and chose registered regular mail, which in hindsight may have not been the best choice as it only tracks the package in Korea.

I received a tracking code for EMS-- it first updated on 02/10/19 (Stating that its origin in South Korea) and last updated on 07/10/19, saying "INTERNATIONAL POST OFFICE, Ready for dispatch, Dispatch number : 188, Flight/Ship No : HA460 "

It's now been about three weeks since the last update, and I emailed the buyer stating the problem; however, they told me that USPS has not updated as well and to just wait, as it should be here any day (they replied on 20/10/19).

I'm not sure what to expect, and at this point, I just want reassurance that this package exists or something. Does anyone know what I can make of the last update, and what I can do in general? I tried searching the code on USPS but it says that the tracking number is not available. This hasn't happened to me before with KoreanBuddy, but probably because I chose their more insured methods.

Going by what you've said, this is standard behavior. It can take a month or more for the shipment to makes its way into USA, but when it does, then USPS will recognize the # and you'll be able to track on their website.

Where the local post do not recognize the tracking I use aftership and 17track they track almost all the shipments

In your post,you said you asked your BUYER?
I just received a package EMS from S Korea yesterday,I signed for it,no problem,he shipped it on October 29 and I received it Nov 1,2019.
I can track it on USPS website

if your seller shipped registered regular mail,it would take longer.
what is regular mail in Korea?slow boat or airmail

EMS or epacket do not work all the time with the local post website . Even if arrived to the location and delivered ,on the local post website may still say the tracking is not available

Yeah I believe it's the seller? I purchased something from them, so term-wise I am not sure what to call them (sorry for the confusion)! But to update the situation, I did receive the package yesterday! Like you said, I did do regular mail, but I'm not sure transportation-wise! Your experience was mine the last two times I interacted with the same person, so that is why I was a bi concerned with the amount of time it was taking!

update! The package arrived on 11/02 (so yesterday for most people I think?) It did take the expected amount of time that regular mail would have take, but now I know what to expect! Thank you so much for the help/advice/questions! It helped me from going further insane! :laugh:

I dont feel comfortable posting the tracking number here,but it is EMS from Korea and he paid in kOREA currency 26,500.which is only US$ 23!!!
The tracking number is ES 274 778 4XX KR.
The mailman brought it to my door and make me signed for it.

A screenshot of the tracking results would also prove you aren't BS'ing. :peace:

I dont have to,this is a volunteer board,what is there not to believe?
I am looking at the box now,he wrote shipping date is 2019.10.29,weight is 2.90 grams,postage is 26,500 which comes to $23,there is no way we can send EMS for that kind of money.

what is the big deal on EMS Korea to USA ?
He sent it,it is a return and I signed for it and I refunded him.
dont forget they are ahead of us at least 1 day.
so his 10/29/2019 could be our 10/27/2019

it is now Seoul,Korea time november 4,1.01 pm,we are now november 3,10:2 am,so the time difference is 15 hours,

The package was accepted on Oct 29,their time,arrived in Chicago October 31 our time,cleared customs October 31 Chicago our time,arrived at my post office November 1 ,1 pm our time
so it is more than 3 days if you add 15 hours more.more like 4-5 days,still pretty good for USPS EMS,it only cost him US$23, i paid USPS first class to Korea $22.33,but I take out private insurance ,cost me $16 .
If I were to ship USPS EMS ,it would cost me a lot more ?
