telly55 07-07-2010 01:47 PM

Try Royalmailers.com they have free shipping on all there orders in USA.

They take paypal payments and the prices or good.

Nephilim 07-07-2010 07:55 PM

I get my stuff from USPS. Free boxes with no shipping costs. The only cost you pay is the price to ship it to the customer.

healthnut88 07-07-2010 08:44 PM

I buy some occasionally on ebay & it helps to build my feedback up as well. (shipped to an address that I have access lol)

boxcutters 07-08-2010 12:03 AM

staples online . good selection

SelfMade17 07-08-2010 01:21 AM

yeah to bad. over here in the usa theres free boxes/packages from USPS :)

jamblix 07-08-2010 02:44 AM

Yeah the USPS flat rate boxes are free but, there's a cost. You're forced to use Priority mail which costs more than media or first class. They also don't have a nice variety of sizes so every item won't fit right. I get my boxes on eBay, they have really good prices

pod 07-08-2010 08:39 AM

Uline has great prices and a massive selection. Fast delivery as well

uline.ca - Canada
uline.com - US

rsot 07-08-2010 08:58 AM

Ha I get cheapo and go by Costco and such - making my own boxes when needed.

Thrifty. But uline has boxes under $1 - So really not needed to be your own box factory ;)

Burning 07-08-2010 12:38 PM

Oh, yes, I would recommend uline. I purchase from them regularly and they have HUGE selection of boxes and padded mailers. They also sell other items as well..

Also I would suggest you check on ebay regularly, I found this seller who was selling 25 11x17 boxes for $5. I quickly purchased a bunch and picked them up locally.

needhelpplease 07-08-2010 02:29 PM

You can always go to your local grocery store (not some place like walmart) and ask the manager to hold some boxes for you because you are moving and you will get all different size boxes. I used to enjoy turning the Priority Mail boxes inside out and using those, until USPS got wise and printed the inside of the boxes :( But never had an issue with my grocery store holding TONS of boxes for me in all different sizes! I hate to pay for packaging, lol! FREE is still better than cheap, lol!

unfortuantemistake 07-10-2010 06:24 AM

Right now Walmart has a killer special.

ALL BOXES ARE 44-54 cents.

No kidding!

Up to 24x24x24 only 54 cents.

I about leg a steamer go in my pants when I saw them.

From there smallest up to 24x24x24 only 44 to 54 cents a box.

Stack up why you can I am.

imhim 07-11-2010 02:14 PM

what about people in the UK?

Turn the boxes inside out and use packaging tape to seal them. Boom, regular cardboard box and you can use whatever shipping service you want.

Gotta think outside the box. GET IT LOL OUTSIDE THE BOX

Also, buying shipping supplies on ebay is a good way to build up some feedback on a new account. ;)

xl_The_Jackal_lx 07-13-2010 02:02 PM

I should also add that I recycle shipping supplies when I order stuff if it's in good shape. If it's still usable why toss it? Bubble wrap, boxes, styrofoam peanuts, it's all good.

if you put it inside out , it has "priority mail" stamped throughout the box.

rsot 07-13-2010 02:08 PM

That's why you use packing tape - brown and covers the writing...

Burning....local pickup of box supplies is intriguing ha

xl_The_Jackal_lx 07-13-2010 02:32 PM

They sell brown/white paper wherever they sell shipping supplies to cover boxes if you need to. You can also use paper grocery bags, and those are free. Just ask for paper next time you go grocery shopping. :thumb:

waterproof 07-13-2010 03:09 PM

Yes! Try Wal-Mart first. A nearby K-Mart is cheap too. The UPS Store is only good for packaging Peanuts because you can get an X-Large bag for $5.99 or go to Office Depot and get the same bag for $22.00! Rediculous!
Anyway, for boxes try Wally World and you can go to your local Grocery store and ask the front desk and most of the time they will give them away for free because they stock up and break down so many boxes a day.

And of course...any of the above helps if you have a friend or a "hook-up" that works there.
Ask firends that work in factorys too.

rsot 07-13-2010 03:26 PM

Ha you all reminded me of a time in 1999 on eBay when I won a vintage toy for my brother. The seller just slapped a huge bunch of stamps and label on the toy and mailed it to me.

Needless to say, it did not come in good condition and I was pissed.

Hahaha, the same thing happened to a friend of mine. He ordered a sega genesis game and the seller just put a stamp and label on the back of the cartridge and shipped it. Surprisingly the game was in decent condition when it arrived, though.

SlickJane 07-17-2010 01:27 PM

Those white express mail USPS Tyvek bags, you can turn those inside out. They print on the inside of the Priority ones, but not the inside of the express ones.

rock45 07-18-2010 02:19 PM

i dont understand how USPS works. it seems like the cheapest mailing services from them is the priority mail start from 4.9us sth in domestic. is there any cheaper standard mailing services from them? anyone use stamps.com or endicia.com?
my friends in us helps me mail parcels everyday and i am trying to find a cheaper way to post.
thanks for all the suggestions.

slapped 07-18-2010 02:36 PM

I use U-Line. ULINE - Cardboard Boxes, Shipping Supplies, Packaging Materials, Plastic Bags

Cheap, Fast shipments and they "Have it All"

digitalslave 07-18-2010 02:50 PM

Yes, yes turning the USPS boxes inside out... I went hog wild a few years ago and stockpiled them, glad I did. Now of course they are printed on the inside.
But as a couple posters already suggested, simply cover them with brown packing paper.yuk yuk!:heh:

you can ship parcel mail it the item is a package, but it is slow....if item is under 13 oz. you can ship first class mail, that would be cheaper then priority.
all in all, i think priority mail is a good value.

i was watching "myth busters" and there was an episode where they shipped a coconut, and just put the stamps right onto the coconut! and it actually got delivered! so i guess you can ship anything without a box as long as postage is affixed

jbcbjb 07-18-2010 03:34 PM

I sell small items and I try to be creative. I use free boxes as much as I can like cereal box, popcorn, poptarts, cake mix box, anything, you name it.... Then I use paper bags from the store, turn it inside out and use to cover it... Everything is recyclable :)

Over the years I have found that doing stuff like that can affect your Complaint Ratio, Feedback and DSR's, Buyers LOVE when the get a professionally Packed purchase, complete with Bill of Sale and Other offers/Coupons/Website Links or Some type of Flyer, It Simply looks more Genuine and Professional, Buyers it seems tend to Scrutinize the Purchase Less.

jbcbjb 07-18-2010 04:48 PM

I never have a problem so far, been doing for 6 months.. DRS's and feedback is 250 100%. I sell used items from .99cents to $5.00 per piece. (Since DHL seized all of my 5 packages, still waiting for reshipment) Other items of course I use sturdy boxes from royalmailers, usps boxes or bubble mailers from ebay..

But thanks for the heads up, I will let you know If get complains. Hopefully not :)

Well I did say "It Can Affect" I mean it also Depends an awful lot on What exactly you are selling and How you are representing Youself, as a Professional Business, or an Individual just selling a few Items around the house

I was Rereading this thread and I realized that there are a LOT Of CheapSkates on this Thread.

Burning 07-18-2010 11:40 PM

I would recommend Uline, I purchase my supplies from them regularly. They offer cheap and affordable prices for packaging. I recommend for people to look for deals before purchasing, they usually put few items on clearance regularly.

rock45 07-19-2010 06:32 AM

i ordered from Uline finally. they dont accept paypal but they have a good price. they also offer me 20% off on the shipment

forummember 07-19-2010 08:06 AM

Funnily enough I get mine from eBay.

waterproof 07-19-2010 06:28 PM

Ditto! Somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 to 8 cents per bubble envelope! Can't beat it unless you rob a store.

I 4th Uline.com

The best hands down. But slickjane that is pretty slick turning The Terek express bags inside out. then you can just ship it parcel with tracking for a fraction.

newtools 08-07-2010 11:43 PM

another thought. I have gone to dollar stores and asked if I can take there empty boxes. there free.

jbluntz 08-08-2010 12:06 AM

VALUEMAILERS on ebay for me, I do mostly high volume small stuff under 13oz so I go through alot of poly mailers and stuff up alot of USPS mail shoots and the next best thing to a poly malier is priority flat rate envelopes and small flat rate boxes which is free of course as well as all the newspaper in the recycle bin next to my mailbox.

I've been shipping small stuff for so long, I've got a couple turntables on ebay right now and I'm completly lost at how to pack it or where to find the right size box can't imagine going through that every day, talk about work.
