Dhgate& dhl dispute?? Need help!!

Hi.. Ok I wrote about a week ago about a Dhgate and DHL issue.

I really need some advice on what to do now. The following is a run down on what all has happened.

1. DECEMBER 6th: Purchased items for my customers via DHGATE
2. DECEMBER 12th: DHGATE Seller provides me with a tracking number for DHL
3. DECEMBER 19th: DHL Tracking number won't show up. Seller says not to worry.
4. DECEMBER 20th: Still nothing with tracking
5. DECEMBER 21st: Still nothing with tracking.
6. December 25th: Seller deletes first tracking number in the DHGATE systems and issues me a new one. I track the package and call DHL and they told me the package with on it's way to London!! (I am in the US) DHL was able to pull a tracking number for me based upon my zip code and said it looks like there is a package for you, but there are some billing issues with the buyer that we don't have information for at this time.

7. December 26th: I talked with the seller and asked if the tracking number DHL gave me was indeed mine. Seller said.."Yes this is your right tracking number.. I am so sorry, but it is the post office fault".

8. December 27th: I am tracking a DHL number that I think is mine, but it says it is still in HONG KONG.

I have no idea what to do here. I mean should I file a dispute or what? Bottom line.. The seller said the items were shipped when they weren't. Gave me a tracking number for somebody in another country. There might be a tracking number for my box, but looks like there are billing issues? This has almost been a month since I have started this whole process.

Any guidance would be very helpful! Thank you so much!!:ranger:

Sorry I can't help much, but I think the first thing the "experts" may ask is...
What form of payment did you use?

I did a dispute a while back and the seller accepted the terms. I never got my money back and the dispute is still open. Customer service got me nowhere, good thing it was only $30 dollars.

It is common for sellers to enter a tracking number and then change it. Happens all the time. It is also common for the package to sit in Hong Kong for a couple of days.

You spoke with a CSR at DHL, but who knows if they have any clue as to what they were talking about?

In any event, it looks like you should know for sure either way within a couple of days. I recommend waiting until then to file the dispute. You can see where the package goes from HK... Don't be surprised if it ends up in the US after all.

But I have only dealt with legit items. If the package contains trademarked or copyrighted material, that is outside the area of my expertise.

True. It is always best to pay by credit card. That way, if something goes south and it cannot be worked out with the seller, you can always do a chargeback.

Using PayPal can be a double edged sword. For example, if you receive counterfeit merchandise and advise PayPal, they WILL make sure you get a refund. However, that also draws attention to your account as they may think you are selling counterfeit merchandise as well.

This should be seller problem,so he have to take the responsibility for this. You have paid for it but you have not got it on time due to mistake made by seller.

It is not easy to win the dispute as he have sent the parcel to you again .You should be lucky as it is small deal.

The only thing you should do is stop buying the goods from this seller again. And send the letter to him with your complaint.

Do not let this make you too tried and unhappy too long.Focus on something else which is worthy for you.

Don't worry. Just open up a dispute with DHGate. DHGate will check the tracking number. But usually they will make you wait it out for 30-45 days. After 30-45 days, and you still have not received anything, DHGate will refund your money. Always pay with PayPal via credit card. You have 3 layers of protection for nondelivery. DHGate, PayPal, and last resort credit card.

I've had 2 packages in the past which tracking showed were dispatched but never arrived on US soil. Both times, DHGate refunded me. Don't forget to open a dispute with PayPal before the 45 day limit to keep the case going. After 45 days PayPal will not acknowledge the transaction.

my experience buying from dhgate in 2010: sellers change tracking numbers sometimes either the same day you pay them or a few days later. i always got my item. this month december i received half a shipement from a seller i know always gets my item on time, but post office has it in some other country too. i'll just wait it out till mid january, but if you need your stuff faster then i guess so you can try to do what you can do. good luck!
