My package is now being handed to customs what does this mean?

its means nothing, its the normal process.
It'll get cleared thru customs.

Did you just find this out when you tracked your order? I have never had anything seized by customs but I beleive if it happened customs would send you a letter to tell you they seized your order.

Here is a brief summary of the process.

Every package coming into the US from another country must go through customs. Most packages are cleared quickly, usually within 24 hours.

A few packages are picked at random for inspection. Those packages are opened and examined.

If the contents are legitimate, the packages are re-sealed with tape that says "inspected by US customs service". If they find counterfeits, drugs, or anything else that is not allowed, the contents are seized.

If your package is seized, you will receive a letter from them within approximately 30 days informing you of WHY your package was seized and telling you how to file an appeal, should you wish to do so.

But the bottom line is, if the package is seized, it is gone.

Any time a package stays in customs for more than 24 hours is NOT a good sign. Some packages are delayed for that long or a little longer and eventually make it through - like if the package lands on a weekend. If it has been in customs for more than 7 days, forget about it.

Its happened with 2 of my packages, and ive had one come with no issue. It was called out on the 4th, and now its the 7th... some people say its normal, i dont know? When should i worry... anyone ever have this happen?

So yes i found this out when i checked the tracking out.. i emailed the peson that i bought the items from (they said not to worry it would pass give it a few days) After reading a bunch of stuff online about this issue i'm a little scared! I called the post office and they didnt seem to think its a big deal. But everything ive read it seems to look like it could be. How long should i wait until i try to contact someone; and who should i contact if i dont get it back. Any ideas?

What was the courier used? This has a huge effect.

Waiting a few days is not unreasonable. The package MAY still show up. But if it has been in US Csustoms for 4 days, they are most likely going to inspect it.

Sometimes sellers on DHgate or AliExpress will try to hold you off for the time for filing a "not received" claim to pass. An HONEST seller will not do this, but unfortunately, not all sellers on such sites are honest.

If this is the case, please check your order to see what the deadline for filing a claim is so that you don't miss it.

Other than that, there is not much that you can do. If your package was seized, you will receive a letter in the mail. That can take 30 days and sometimes longer.

EMS. DHL is psycho...just search the forum for proof.

i had a 2 package held for 60 days and never received notice to what happen . tracking info states no further info . did customs keep my stuff and take it home with them ..

It could be several things. Maybe the letter to you was lost. Or maybe the packages got lost. It is rare, but it happens. In any event, if it has been 60 days, the odds of them showing up are next to nil.

They are not too much different for the seizure rate.It depend on so many factors,such as the region you are locted,and the product you are shipping,also the shipping agent account is good or not,packing is good or not,and value and item marked are reasonable or not.

The more you know,the lower seizuare will be.

Its normal man, sometimes custom need to verify your product and they make delay. I remember that one of my product got delay of 1 month, but received afterwards

Sounds like it could be A coin toss..I think the key to clearing customs is the broker used. You need someone professional and able to make things happen. Customs is like amazon---give them what they want and things should work out.

I ordered a package 3 days ago and since then I have learned nothing about my package since then should I be worried about it?

Did you buy the item thru ebay? You can file a case for ITEM NOT RECEIVED something like that, they will definitely refund you your money.

Given that it was 7 years ago now I doubt they would refund it now :)

what company was it shipped with?
what does tracking say?
