Import new laptop from USA to UK. How to avoid custom.

I just bought new laptop from USA and now my friend will ship it to me in UK. The cost of the laptop is $1100. Do you think I will be charged for a custom? Is there any chance I can avoid any charge? because the shipping cost is already expensive.

Can I make up an invoice with $500 of laptop? Will this be risky? are they really check into the details or just see the invoice paper roughly?

Just to let you know OP - customs evasion can carry up to 7 years - now how much will you be saving?

I'm not sure about the brit customs, but here in Canada, you can easily "⊗⊗⊗⊗" an invoice by significantly lowering the value of the item (but not too much), and declare it as a broken/defective laptop.

Crack the screen and send it as salvage part. Otherwise, pay your duty.

get your friend to open it and send it as used and declare a value of $200-$300
