Safe to pay DHL Customs Duty?

As I stated in the other DHL threads on this section, I had a packaged held. I just got a letter today asking for $15 for customs duty. Is it safe to pay this? I an concerned with giving them my personal information etc. Any advice would be appreciated.

I dont know I always use usps express mail and I have never had anything stop at customs or had to pay any amount of money to get them through customs.

They are only giving me a few days to pay this. Maybe I can pay with a money order to avoid personal information? I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Not trying to sound like a smart butt but can you just go in show your ID and pay in cash to DHL?

fingerblast 07-18-2011 06:26 PM

No, they want payment sent back via the mail.

Since it's only $15, I would say just give the money order idea a shot. I am sure your package is worth a lot more and money orders are the best way to stay anonymous.

If DHL said it is pay for duty,so i think it is ok to pay it and you can try to avoid to show your real ID.Maybe the sender value it too much on the bill.

they sent me a duty letter when I imported 10 geveys.. paid as I get way too many packages with DHL without any problems. Last thing I want is problems with DHL. They've been nothing but great to me over the years.

What's a "gevey" for those (mainly me) who might be naive?

unkown5454 07-20-2011 10:44 AM

A VeRO item that is highly count er feited. Don't get excited.

rsot 07-20-2011 10:50 AM

Ha not excited - just I am asking what's it do?

Edit: Got my head together and researched - I understand now.

It unlocks Iphones. Maybe other phones too, I know about the Iphones because my friend did it. It worked.

fingerblast 07-20-2011 03:05 PM

So should I pay this? The items they are holding are vero items and I do not want to show my ID etc. I'm still on the fence about whether to send out a money order or not. I really don't want to get in trouble but don't see how I would when I'm not showing any type of ID etc.
