"Please contact DHL"

Hi, I made an order a few days ago (import) and chose DHL as the delivery method, which has worked before. The thing is, when I track the delivery this is what comes up:

17 Please contact DHL ARLANDA - SWEDEN 10:27
16 Shipment arrived at incorrect facility. Sent to correct destination ARLANDA - SWEDEN 08:29
15 Clearance processing complete at ARLANDA - SWEDEN ARLANDA - SWEDEN 07:05
14 Arrived at Sort Facility ARLANDA - SWEDEN ARLANDA - SWEDEN 06:51

It seems to me like the shipment just got misplaced or something, but why do they need me to contact them if that's the case? I'm mostly concerned about #16&17. It's not being held up at customs is it? In that case it shouldn't say "clearance processing complete".

Anyway, what should I do? Should I contact DHL?

Hate to tell you this...

When DHL seized my package, the tracking info said "Please contact DHL"

While "Please contact DHL" can indicate seizure, no harm in doing what is needed to find out...

So, DHL can seize packages? Honestly I wasn't aware of this, I thought that only customs could do that. So what exactly will happen with the package if it has been seized by DHL?

Are you sure? I highly doubt that what I imported is illegal, but if it was, wouldn't contacting them just verify that I'm the one who intended to import it? I've heard about something like that at least.

Anyway, thanks for the response.

You need to call them and provide the correct address. Your package is not seized!!!

Your packages may have been seized if you are in USA,but it may need you to provide some paper documents or taxes involved for some other countries. As we have same situations happend in europe countries ,which DHL show "please contact DHL" ,and our clients provide them an invoice and statement ,and then custom released the goods.

It is completely different stories between usa and other countries if please contact DHL appearing on the tracking.

DHL doesn't seize packages, customs does. DHL issues the "please contact DHL" status so you can call them, and when you do, they give you the phone number for the case worker in customs that has your package.

This looks like they just want to correct the address. Usually, the postal code is wrong.

If customs was involved, the second to last update would have said something like "CLEARANCE PROCESSING DELAYED".

Thanks for the advice everyone, seems like I had nothing to worry about after all. I just gave them a call and they said it would be delivered tomorrow, but apparently the tracking number had changed. What a relief =)

Thanks again for all the replies :thumb:

Indeed. I received the package earlier today, good thing they called me before delivery since I wasn't at home.

I tried tracking the package with the new number I got though, and it seems like after it arrived here in Sweden they sent it to Germany, then Denmark, and finally back to Sweden... Oh well, at least everything worked out in the end.
