DHL Clerance Delay
 

I'm new here. And looking for some help!

Is there any hope for this. It's the first time my package went through NY customs. All my packages went through the Cincinnati, OH customer, clears within 1 hour!

keep in mind its very close to christmas and im sure customs is getting hammered with packages from all over. cant expect everything to go smoothly all the time

Thanks guys! My problem is that i overselling because i thought i was gonna have them come on time:confused:..Now my customers are getting mad. Already refunded 5 orders today!


Big mistake

Very hard if you are new to online selling. You can not sell items not to hand and hope all goes OK.
reverse tends to happen.

Customs are always busy at this time of year. It's a given the parcel desperately wanted is the one held back.

Be careful of your buyers grumbling. Even with refunds they might give you a neg.
You can not, and should not, take monies if the items are not there for desparch. :doh:

Have a read around the forum. For next christmas, have all your stock to hand by Mid November.

I've seen at least 4-5 different posts in the last few days on this forum and another forum regarding NY customs sitting on packages. I'd chalk it up to the holidays vs. a seize crackdown, but that's just my opinion.

Overselling is your problem - you're playing with fire and could have irate customers by xmas - while I wish you luck, this kind of model can be doomed to fail.

@OP, is your message about the delay from yesterday? IF so, you have to wait at least 24-48 hours - via DHL?

Anyone dealt with this before?

I currently have two packages sitting there. They haven't updated in approx 40 hours,

Mine was seized:shocked: I got another package that been on clearance delay for 48 hours. One chat rep told me to check it back on Monday. I hope this one goes through.

My supplier is very cooperative. They reship anther package for me, but the problem i might not able to get it by Christmas!

25 hours and no update in cincinatti... so i think they are just backed up on clearance clearing, however a clearance delay is never good. mine just says arrived though.

And EMS is about 7 days backlogged. just had 1 clear from the 11th

Anything longer than 7 hours in Cincinnati you can consider it seized. I got two packages came on Friday that went through Cincinnati and cleared customer within 5 hours. NY Hub is the problem! My other package been seating there for 3 days now.

left china at 9pm and arrived in cinci at 1am? no possible, i had this happen before where it says scanned it arrived and it hadnt arrived yet

1 NY package has updated. the other has not.

I had a few things happen to me over the last couple packages.

1 the package was damage during shipping from china to USA and caused a delay with customs.

It was delayed for nearly 9 hours I almost lost hope in that package until right before I was about to call DHL it updated to clearance processing complete. Luckily they didn't open it.

2 its busy this time of year so there might be a slight delay customs especially if the package is at a major gateway.

I am really worried now. No updates for a week+ already.
Actually its nothing special but a regular Japanese cell phone, does it really take that long for the customs to inspect it?

ITS EMS your dealing with. Its 3-14 days delivery time or something like that no?

Did you call them and see what they say?

I have had Customs take stuff and hold it for "two" months. So don't be surprised if it gets held right now.

Customs is backed up due to the heavy Christmas package volume. So, I wouldn't freak out just yet.

However, generally speaking, the longer an item sits in customs, the less your chances are of receiving it. With normal volume, I would say anything that has been held for more than 24 hours has less than a 50% chance of reaching you. If it has been longer than 72 hours, that goes down to a 10% chance of receiving the package.

This is why it is NEVER a good idea to sell your items BEFORE you have them in hand. And that is especially true at Christmas time. Disappointed customers will DESTROY you with negative feedback and low DSR's. Accounts are simply too valuable nowadays to lose them over this stuff. This is one threat to our accounts that we CAN control.

With normal volume it's 2-3 days... The JFK guy says they rarely scan them when they detain, but if they do.. on EMS china website it'll list " handed over to customs" twice on the page. On USPS site, if it says no further information available = gg lost

Congrats!:clap: I will wait and see if mine would clear tomorrow. I already lost one! Good news is my supplier already re-ship another package to me with no fuss ask 2 days ago!

N00b...our countries are in 2 different time zones. So, it may appear as happening in the same day. But, most certainly not.

I have 7 packages all pass us custom this week ,but there is 1 packages still waiting for custom clearance,hope it can inbound out today.

I know what time zone it is in, regardless...


Arrived today , never even showed up as clearance processing etc. on website, no update for 2 days and it was out for delivery this A.M

It seems like your item was shipped via EMS. My problem is with DHL.

I spoke to a rep whenever it says processed for clearance it means that they are inspecting your package.

Delay is 3-5 days.

I got four out of my four packages seized by customs today. Damn you New York gate!!!

Now THAT is BRUTAL! This must be some type of a crackdown. If you had four packages coming in and all four were selected at random, that would be the WORST BAD LUCK I've ever heard of!

No it doesnt!!

Clearance processing means its going through the scanners. Once its out it changes to forwarding to depot.. OR on HOLD if its been seized.

After forwarding to depot it may say ON HOLD< this means you need to pay fees

Well, they all got past all the clearances and were only seized when they were ready to be delivered next day. Guess customs retraced their steps, saw something they didn't like in the first package, tagged all the rest and came in for the killer swoop. :>

Called DHL today and they told me that a customs officer came into the local store and confiscated all the goods, leaving me empty-handed. :shocked:

im telling u what the agent on my case said, do you work for DHL to justify what you are saying?

On Hold status in USA is not a seizure. Perhaps UK is different. Here it simply means it's waiting to be processed for departure.

I don't remember any of my other packages every saying that.

I know its christmas time .Its been since dec 3 should i be worried?

ems says handed over to customs in san fran dec 3 .

usps says inbound to customs
