| | | White Hat | 12-17-2011 05:32 PM | Watch out - People from UK People from the UK watch out! ;)
Customs seems to become more strict due to Olympics.
I have had 5 packages seized and never had one seized in the past. Customs seems to be checking out more packages then usual.
I'll be ordering to another country then bringing my items over to UK via my Car :D until the Olympics pass.
So anyone from the UK had packages seized recently?
Thanks! |
| teedon | 12-18-2011 12:46 AM | Yes,we have 1 package got seized last week and 7 packages got through.
We never have packages got seized to uk before, even we ship a lot each week .So there is only 1 reason ,that is olympics.
We have to stop sending the packages to uk untill olympics game over next year . |
| dburnside | 12-27-2011 11:42 AM | who did you use to send items and where they 'hot' items? |
| Killuminati | 12-27-2011 12:08 PM | I would also like to know if they were foo foo?? |
| cortex | 12-28-2011 08:48 AM | Might it depends on the courier company?
I find DHL a lot stronger than EMS |
| Callidus | 12-28-2011 04:11 PM | Cortex I find exactly the same... DHL is a lot safer at the moment than EMS |
| Killuminati | 12-28-2011 05:03 PM | But don't you need to pay custom fees for dhl? |
| cortex | 12-28-2011 05:48 PM | ^sometimes you do - just ask your supplier to mark down the item value :)
i usually only pay about £22 for a very heavy box which is valued at £110
reasonable id say - 3 days to arrive here |
| shaddelick | 12-28-2011 06:00 PM | Some suppliers are better then others at sending items without customs seizing them. Even me in USA had a few items seized recently, i think that its higher then normal. I think next time I will use DHL since things are getting tight lately |
| NotAHappyBunny | 12-28-2011 08:05 PM | i havent had any siezed as I dont sell foo foo, but every parcel - note not flat rate envelopes, has been charged import duties :(
They havent opened my boxes though.
He marks them down also but they still manage to get me :suspicious:
They are also taking longer to get here. |
| Killuminati | 12-29-2011 07:48 AM | I have never used DHL shipping company when i purchase from china i always use ems but i will be giving it a go.
I ordered one package from the usa using DHL it arrived pretty fast in 3 days not bad but its just the customs fees i was not happy with. |
| bigbill | 12-29-2011 07:54 AM | DHL is super fast and reliable, but i always get hit with import duties - ask your supplier to mark as something like dress samples, value $20-30.
Not had any problems with EMS lately - last thing was sunglasses!
Although have a few packages coming through this next week so we will have to see!
I agree with Shaddelick...some suppliers are better than others for passing customs. |

Reverse in North Am - well Canada at least - DHL is more problematic than EMS. |
| cortex | 12-29-2011 09:57 AM | GreenLion: From my experience they dont give you the package unless you pay the VAT charges.
You can pay over the phone using a debit card.
VERY rarely can you pay the driver on delivery. |

Now i always receive a letter 1-2 days after my package is delivered.
I haven't pay them yet. |
| GREEN LION | 12-29-2011 10:15 AM | im using fedex now for most of my deliverys from china.so far its very very good. |
| cortex | 12-29-2011 10:17 AM | is FEDEX cheaper/faster than DHL? |
| GREEN LION | 12-29-2011 10:44 AM | I think its same price,i dont pay for delivery,my suppliers does.its not as fast as DHL but very easy/clean tracking service. it maybe 1-2 days later than DHL. |

unless you use loads of different names and addresses.
Dhl are good but so are ups |
| teedon | 12-29-2011 12:24 PM | Using DHL may let you to pay import fee for the packages into UK but the speed is very fast ,sometimes EMS will take more 4-6 days than DHL .
Even you mark the package at 30 pounds, you also need to pay the import dutied sometimes, this have happend to our packages to uk before. So that value should be over 20 pounds and also mark it as samples, that will be better.
Also donot ship the goods from china mainland directly by DHL,keep in mind you should ask your supplier to send the goods from hong kong.I think many people know the reason. |
| White Hat | 12-29-2011 12:30 PM | So if I use DHL it would be safer to the UK?
Can anyone help because I just had a another package seized from EMS. Lost a lot from this.
Any experiences with DHL to the UK from China?
Thanks! |

| Killuminati | 01-01-2012 04:34 PM | White hat, was the item branded coming from china via ems? |
