How do you feel about shipping to PO Boxes?

I always hesitate shipping to PO boxes. This usually means its a stealth buyer. I wouldn't mind shipping to a stealthy but ONLY if they have good intentions. But i feel like they don't. Got a buyer with 1000 positive FB that just bought something from me. Has a PO box address. Decided to ship it to him since he also sells things. Just wondering how you guys feel about it. Do you do it? Maybe avoid it at all cost? Any bad experiences?

I would say at least 30 percent of my buyers have po boxes. There must be reasons for po boxes besides stealth.
Maybe it is a present and the buyer doesnt want the family to see. Maybe the postal service is bad in their area and they afraid their mail get lost.
If I would cancel all orders on my account that go to po boxes,I would be in trouble.
The funny thing is the only complain I ever had on this ebay account came from a person not from a po box but before I shipped it I had a bad feeling,I knew he will complain. In the end he kept the item and got a refund.Oh well....

I do it but if it's high value, customer must still sign for it.

If it's extremely high value, I have told buyers that 1) they must pay XX amount for fedex and 2) they will have to go pick it up in person since FedEx does not deliver to po box.

The USPS is pushing PO boxes hard right now too. Go in to your local PO and there are flyers everywhere mentioning how easy it is and convenient having a 2nd address.

i have 1 account with over 2500 fb and some people still won't sell to me because of the p o box

i havent had anything unusual happen selling to p o box adresses

I don't know what the big deal is about PO boxes, there's mom and pop mailbox rentals all over the place that are probably cheaper than a PO box and give you a real address, why even bother with a PO box when you can just get one of those?

I think the postal service pushes their PO boxes a lot more than the UPS store, for example, and I also think the USPS has a little more legitimacy, for some reason, than private mailboxes.

PO boxes are completely normal. Lots of people have them for various reasons as stated above. In my line of work, I notice a large percentage of people using PO boxes.

I always ship to PO boxes without any trouble but my items aren't exactly high end items so I guess that would possibly keep the trouble away.

I guess i was just a little paranoid. My paranoia might be coming from last time this happened. I sent an item to a po box and suddenly couple days later my account goes down......

vany 01-12-2012 05:51 PM

Well, LoopHole, I am paranoid as well :) Aren't we all LOL
However, it would be really difficult if you avoid or cancel sales as your buyers have POBoxes & still we are stealthers ourselves.

i ship anywhere they want it. i stopped caring since i feel all my accounts are on borrowed time anyway

slappzilla 01-13-2012 01:13 PM

Who cares if you're shipping to stealthys? You're making money off them, so who cares if they're turning your stuff.

More than half of what I sell gets flipped, but that's the name of the game. I could careless as long as I'm getting my cut!

Does he sell similar items as you? I think I know other reasons to why you have asked this question.

Nope totally different. If he sold the same items there is NO WAY i would ship to him lol

Gamefreak 01-14-2012 11:14 PM

Just another address for me. I actually like these more than actually addresses as most of the time the post office hold the item until the buyer picks it up and that always causes less problems for both parties.

EASY SOLUTION IS TO TELL THE BUYER; I use UPS to ship and they dont allow PO BOX address, Problem solved.
