Held in US Customs for about a month?
 

Hey everyone recently I purchased some unbranded/generic goods. The item was shipped by EMS on 02-14 and has been stuck in customs since 02-18. I was wondering should I even expect it to come through or is it seized? It doesn't say contact them or anything and I have yet to receive a letter.

Anyone have any advice on what to do from here?

That`s about a month - I would consider it seized but I would speak to the supplier and tell him where is my package!

Hi rsot thanks for the quick reply. I was just speaking with my supplier and they said they would send a new package today, but won't it just get seized again if my first package didn't make it through?

(Might I add this is my first time anything has been stuck in customs this long or seized for that matter)

I would prob use a diff address.

The first package is still held in customs, but the seller offered to reship with no extra charge so I had it sent to the same address and it came through. I also had another package sent to a different address just in case and it also came through.

The first package may have just been lost. Customs does not usually seize generic items - although they can if the items are somehow illegal. Usually it is the copyrighted and trademarked stuff that gets seized.

2-14 is one and half month,it is quite long.You may think you will not get this package.

Hey guys quick update on the package that was being held for so long. It finally arrived at my door step today, and it wasn't opened or anything. I guess it was just backed up. :thumb:

Wow - congratz. Was it opened for inspection with tape? or no.

Nope box was untouched :D

They forgot about it!
If a package gets sent to customs, it means that customs need to inspect it and if its ok, then it goes to the sorting centre to continue its journey to your house.
Don't forget that your package is not the only one getting sent to customs.
So they get dozens of packages each day and it is not surprising that every now and then, there is this poor package that just got left aside and forgotten about.
2 months later, Tom stumbles on your package and he picks it up and sees that its dated 2 months ago, so he thinks, ah, common, I can't be bothered checking this 2-month-old stuff and chucks it in the dispatch sack.
