Did people really lose a lot of stuff?

All of my deliveries to the Uk have been arriving much faster than usual. Some have taken 3 days!!

Your chances are much lower now than a month or two before the games start, but with that being said, I am sure they are still on a higher level of alert than usual.

I got a 12Kg parcel about two weeks ago by Fedex. It cleared customs the same day that it arrived (three days after shipping), and I got it the next day as it was at nighttime when it had arrived in the UK. No customs charges luckily (I never seem to get them when I use the address that I used for it...)

If it was to do with the olympics everyones stuff would of been opened and seized ,its to do with the value on the package.

Its not ems its the uk customs cracking down on people avoiding paying tax on what they import.

Why would they just check ems at the olympics and no other shipping companies .

Get your supplier to put $25 or lower and bet it your parcel comes straight through

No it is not due to that. The parcel that I mentioned was valued at $160 (WAY lower than the real amount) but it still got through. Seizures have nothing to do with the item value as long as they do not suspect that the paperwork is false. They are generally due to something on the paperwork catching their attention and prompting them to open it up... where they find that it is prohibited. And since EMS parcels spend longer in customs, they have more of an opportunity to inspect. So yes, EMS increases chances of seizure also.

You simply do not have parcels seized purely because they have a high value on them...

I spoke to my parcelforce delivery man, phoned parcelforce and even read a article about it.Do you think i just made itup for fun?
They were having a clamp down.

And yes you may get some packages through because believe it or not they cannot stop and check every one of the 10s of thousands of parcels comming in to the uk everyday.

All my parcels at the time with a $25 invoice went straight though because There was no reason for them to keep them.SOME of the parcels with a higher value invoice which would normally just go straight through,Were getting stopped and charged.

I never said they got siezed for having a high value,Thats the reason why they got stopped ,and then when it gets checked and thats when its gets siezed as i doubt anyone on this thread Who was worried about customs was importing legit stuff.
