DHL SHIPMENT Clearance delay ?s
 

So I have my first shipment held up with a clarance delay via DHL. I called DHL. And they said customs needs to Id the receiver. She asked for a business tax ID, to which I told I dont have one it's for personal use.

She then asked for a SS #. I pushed back a little and inquired further on who gets the number. I finally gave it to her and she told me the process can take up to 2 days and she could update me if I like. btw, shipment is coming in my real name to my real address. There was no mention of customs fees which is what I initially suspected.

1) does this sound normal?
2) is there any best practices to streamline getting packages through customs?
3) do smaller pkgs get through easier?
5) are shipping address monitored., ie does cstms track how many pkgs I receive from over sees?
4) any other shipping /customs advice?

Only advice I will give if never give your SSN to anyone, even over the phone. Worst mistake in the world.

Hope they are not counterfeits...If they are, you might have just flagged not only your address but yourself...Id be on the lookout for a letter.

I suspect I just found out part of the issue. I signed up dhl alerts, and now I can see what the shipper put on the box for contents. They put 'nylon straps'. While there are a few rifle slings! The majority of the box is hunting and rifle assecories. Heavy metal items that I'm sure didnt feel like the description on the box.

I have ordered from dvdsea and my package is now in china waiting for clearance delay. How long does this usually take and when should I expect my package?

from china mainland or from hongkong china?
