Shipping woes: Banned for life

Some of you UK guys may use interparcel for your larger items as there about the biggest , cheapest courier broker in the land.
Ive used them for a number of years for the larger stuff .
Now what im about to say is 100% my fault and im blaming no one but me.
Since using interparcel i have always been a little conservative with my weights when inputting the data online to save a few quid.
Fine .. no problem been doing it for years .
Today i received an invoice for £5760.00 surcharges as weights declared were incorrect / false .
This is for the last 3 months.
The letter then went on to say my business is no longer welcome and my address is banned for life.
Just goes to show you cant get away with things forever !
So anyone else using interparcel keep the weights and sizes legit as they now have a team of people checking it all out.

thank you for the warning i wouldnt be trying to do that in the first place but its a hard times out there cant you dispute it ??

Wow. £5760.00 surcharges.

Interparcel are cheaper than royal mail anyway, and probably the best parcel service for larger items in the UK. Why declare incorrect weights? I assume you post a lot of very heavy weights.

@bruceuk, wow - at least you manned up to it. Can you go stealth with that service? Or takes ID verification etc.

Still trying to formualte a plan rsot.
Im sure theres a stealth method as no id required but when an address is banned it makes it a little difficult to arrange a collection .
but ive found another broker who will match prices so not the end of the world .
I just need to learn to input the correct weights or another will come back and bite me..

While what you did was wrong, this seems so unethical on their part. Waiting until it piles up and throwing it back at you, telling you to pay up. You should usually get a package returned immediately or get a letter in the mail right away saying it was delivered, however you must pay up.

I once had a package refused at the post office because I marked it as 3.4 pounds and not 4.1 as they officially weighed it. So I had to return home, void the label, print another, and the price ended up being the exact same. They have a certain cut off for the price going up. Example: 3.4 lbs - 4.4 lbs will always cost $15.00 but when you change the weight online to 4.5 lbs, it would go up to $17.50.

Is that a penalty? Or did you really stiff them for £5760 in fees in just 3 months?

There is a surcharge for any item found to be heavier than stated .
The surcharge bears no resemblence to the difference in costs .
So no my fees were not £5k in my favour i would estimate probably nearer £500 but when they see a chance to bill you they take advantage.
Ill give you an example .
1 item i sent was billed to me at £8.50 , this has now been billed back to me at £102.00
As the weights did not tie up .
There does not seem to be any pattern to there surcharges as 2 identical items have both now been invoiced for different prices whilst going to uk mainland which i dont understand .
But i will be disputing a lot of it especially £8.50 to over £100 now thats a joke .

I disputed 95% of the charges and requested explanation / proof of the weights they have invoiced.
As yet no reply from them .
I have also repriced with other suppliers the exact invoices they have thrown back at me and it totals £590.00 so i have this also ready to fire back at them if they persist with this farce.

As it has turned out they have now done me a favour as my new main carrier is currently saving me approx 20% and so far the service seems ok .

good luck with it all. thats a lot of money there after which sounds totally unfair.
