How many of you guys went to China?

Hey Peeps,

i would like to know how mnay of you guys left your country to go start your Ebay venture in China? If you did, did it worked good for you? Any tricks you could give me? I would like to move there myself and start being real serious about Ebay. Anyways wish to get some response

Thanks alot :amen:

Moving to China wont make you money. Creating a product, going to China to develop and producing it would. Do you really think all those people with infomercials moved to China? Hell no. They used the available resources there, made the trip to get everything in line to produce and then sat back and watched all their products import into the USA on store shelves and made millions/billions.

pmtrump101 04-10-2013 02:25 AM

Yes but Im thinking moving there to be in the action.. always being able to look for new products. Youre right with what your saying but Im pretty sure for some people it worked to be in the action. Maybe Im wrong too hehe

Smurf74 04-10-2013 04:32 AM

Moved here 3 years ago and have been travelling here for 5 years to find products.
How successful is it, really depends on what you want to sell and how you want to sell it! I wouldn't really recommend selling on Ebay directly from China!

I started on eBay, but now I have 2 other businesses, but still do some on ebay UK only. As the UK has about the most reliable delivery times from here.
Let me know what questions you have and will be happy to answer them if I can!

Thank you for your response. I was thinking about using my brother here in Canada to take care of the Ebay accounts here in Canada while me im in China. Did moving in China opened doors for you? Have you sell alot of China stuff on Ebay? Anyways its nice to see someone who did it and worked for him.

Don't people in china sell on the competitor of ebay, taobao?

invince 04-10-2013 10:25 AM

I'm from Hong Kong and always go to China. I think travelling to China is takes 15 hours for you? I'll advise you spend the time and go to taobao.com and search things. Use google translate, you can find products with photos and know what you want. After you get some idea, find someone who knows Chinese or a sourcing agent to get the item shipped to you. Much easier than really travelling there, prices are usually cheaper on the internet.
FYI, I buy from taobao and sell on eBay, that's my model.

pmtrump101 04-10-2013 01:09 PM

Yes takes 15 hours flight. I ws thinking about just go there, live there and make my brother takingcare of the Ebay accounts. Ill be the one shipping stuff to him. I like to be in control of what I do and like to be in the action. See new products etc etc. I hope its a good idea hehe. Thanks alot for your reply its very appreciated.

This can be great because you will have a trusted connection. As long as they understand how to keep stealth it can work very well

pmtrump101 04-10-2013 01:36 PM

You stayed in China? You decided to stay there cause of business?
Thanks for the reply

Just one more thing, the environment and people there are a lot different from the western world. Well even I'm Chinese, sometimes I can't tolerant that, so really think twice if you are thinking of stationing there. 3 markets that i'm more familiar with is Yiwu (toys and gifts, near Shanghai) , Guangzhou (toys and gifts, in Guangdong Province), and HuaQiang (electronic stuff, computer, usb, etc. in Shenzhen).

GreenBean 04-11-2013 10:07 PM

Guangzhou is an excellent city.

Apart from its years of being a market city, its closeness to Hong Hong is ideal.

Quick train trip is possible via The New Territories at a very reasonable cost.

In Guangzhou, visit the neighborhood of Xiguan for the food stalls & stunning food.
Yummy!

Thanks guys... I been in Guangzhou before and I know its very different but I actually like it. I like the business aura in Guanzghou. For someone like us who wants to sell alot on Ebay it makes sense. Greenbean: Ill be looking for that neighborhood for sure.... I love eating hehe...

invince 04-12-2013 02:06 AM

This is very true. Btw friends if you visit Hong Kong and need help in planning or anything, I'm here always :clap: Also I can bring you guys around =}

The coastal cities in China (e.g. Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing) are actually very well developed these days, but if you go to the inner ones, it's another story.

Here I must share one slang that we always say.
'If you put your bags in front of you, it's yours; if you put your bags behind, it's others.' Good luck in China :yar:

What the hell? :pound:

Is it that bad?

rsot 04-21-2013 07:10 AM

That slang phrase works in many other countries too :( sadly.

invince 04-24-2013 01:59 AM

Yeah, be careful as no one may help you when you are in danger.
People are just fear of helping others, (..and eventually getting into trouble because the police is sometimes corrupted and the law is...), so people just get away.
Bad things won't happen on you if you keep an eye and put your belongings at the right place - they'll find other targets :)
