Sending Packages under multiple names in one shipment?
 

Say I go to the post office and send 10 packages, with 7 different stealth names on the 10 packages.

Is that going to raise flags with the post office and am I going to get questions from the person I hand the packages to?


How do you guys go about this?

That is fine, at least in the UK. For all they know you could just be dropping off loads of friends mail.

The Post office doesn't really care what names are on the packages, take your packages and ship them.

If they get curious, just tell them you work for a mail courier service.

I drop mine off with different names and multiple return addresses from different parts of the country. If they ask, I just tell them I am a drop shipper and I use the re-sellers return addresses, I've only had them ask once.

So say I am shipping in Iowa and I have a return address of Alabama, they will still take the mail and not flag it? At worst ask why you are shipping it from iowa if the address is in alabama right...

How about at a small town post office where the same person is always working and they know you..... Should I go to a different post office!?

Go to a larger Post Office, small town ask too many questions.

It's no one's business but I had a postal employee point out that one of my addresses was a closed down property that was up for sale, I just told him I used to own it so that's why was still using that address, but it wasn't in any harmful intention of him , I'm on really great terms with my post office , it's amazing what a box of donuts and some patience gets you especially during the holiday season when customers are yelling because of long waits

Wow, how did the employee know that the address was closed down? Did he look up the address in his free time after you left a package there, then the next time you dropped one off say "hey this address is closed down"

Seems pretty weird a postal employee would know that.

Most likely a small town, small towns = everything is known.

I personally think they hate their job and cannot wait til the shift is over. They scan my items with 3 diff return addresses and then move on to the next. As stated above, it is none of their business, plus I doubt they even care.

Do they have a large drop box or cart in your area?

Mine has several carts lined up for pre paids to be dropped off.

I would not take multiples up to any counter with tons of names on it myself.

My local is a small one where the person who works there knows me and I just say "hi" "hows it going" and get out. She also live up stairs, she pretty much knows everyone who goes in there.

That one is about 2 miles away (4 miles total) and I can get there by bike easily whenever I need to. The blue mailbox out front of this postoffice is in a position where every time I stop by to drop something off you see her in the window drinking her coffee and have to give her a wave. So if I were to drop off 10 different named first class pieces from eBay they would know who it is. Especially since I have only seen 1 other person make an eBay shipment over an every other day period for the last year.

There is another about 7 miles away from me (14 miles total), outside of the post office they have about 4 of the blue post mail boxes, nothing inside though. Have never had a problem with those.

I can drop my prepaid under 13 ounces in there, but if it is a prepaid over 13 ounce then I have to go up to the desk and hand it to them. Recently I have gotten rid of most of the over 13 ounces anyway because they are to much of a pain and have not brought in good profits.

Hate having to haul myself on my bike the 14 miles, it takes at least an hour there and back. But I can't really work with the multiple names at the small one because they will have nothing better to do then get suspicious about my packages.

Small town with small nosy people who mind everyone's business but their own.

I always hated taking packages to the small post offices. Some of them dont have the slots to drop off anything. But luckily I live in a big city.

Thread reminds me of going to some small city out in New York State - cant remem the name, way back in 2002 - had to mail some packages to some state addresses and, since I was in the US already, shipping was cheaper.

Went to a small postal office - they were asking where I was from, had not seen me before, where was I living.

I was flat out explaining that I am from Canada just in the neighbourhood - they were giving me some stink eye like my business was not wanted hah.

Annoying - all I was doing was mailing some vinyls not looking for an inquisition.

@ Zero. The building happens to be a few blocks away from the post office but it was kind of shocking that he knew that with one glance at the label , but is a very friendly guy

Some of them can be perceptive because of going around a lot as delivery people until getting their office job

Another reason why - for the small post offices - gifts around Xmas are nice :D

There is always a jungle network in small towns.

Stuff is known that goes unsaid.

But it is surely noticed.

When I lived in a smaller town the nosy clerk remember everyones name and address.

When you took a box in she would say, wow this person must be giving you a lot of good items to sell on ebay for them.

I had to tell her long before that I sell for those older folks who dont want to list their items.

Now get a pickup when needed and also drop items into the carts we have a huge PO.

I had the issue raised by my mailman b/c I let him pick everything up. Now I just have labels made with all the same name

Why would you use all the different stealth names on the packages? Even if you print the labels of PayPal/eBay. I always black out the return address, and tape over a BIZ name and a Post Office Box or UPS or other mail box. I have never had anyone ask if why the Box was in a different area or even state than listed on the eBay listing.

If they ever did I would just say all the items are drop shipped. I do this to because I have had quite a few buyers over the years give me wrong addresses invalid etc and having them returned. If you got a fufu stealth address you can say good bye to the package.
