DHL text me to pay invoice amount
 

Question regarding dhl payment

i order form a supplier in china everymonth, i have a parcel on the way currently in hong kong, and i have recieved a text on my mobile phone from dhl stating -

"A SHIPMENT WILL SHORTLY BE DELIVERED BY DHL, REF AWB 91XXXXXXXX.
IMPORTANT CHARGES OF £11.64 WILL BE PAYABLE. TO ENSURE DELIVERY, PLESE MAKE PAYMENT ON OUR WEBSITE AT :

https://epayments.dhl.co.uk/


is this legit , or is this some sort of scam? i mean they have my tracking number and have my mobile? also why do i have this invoice charge when i have paid shipping fees?

The website is legitimate. Here is what their website says about these charges:

This invoice is not for delivery charges. This invoice relates purely to import duties and other applicable government taxes, such as VAT, that were levied by HM Revenue & Customs when your shipment arrived in the country. DHL paid these duties on your behalf in order to comply with customs regulations and ensure your goods were delivered without delay. Unfortunately, we are not able to tell you in advance of the costs.

That is legit. I get them all the time.

If in doubt go to https://epayments.dhl.co.uk/ enter your way-bill number and pay via that.

Charges will be for VAT, Import duty and then a £5 charge ontop of that from DHL

i had a feeling it was legit, just wasnt sure if i should give my bank card details without double checking

DHL do that when they have no issues with the consignment

No, but you can also pay by phone or in cash to the delivery guy. If you are paying cash make sure you have the right amount, as they usually don't have change. :ranger:

I doubt anyone would bother coming to your doorstep to scam you like this. Also, you pay when the package is delivered, so you can open it up and check it out. No need to use paypal's protection in my opinion. :pop2:

P.S. If you meant paying by phone, then yes, no protection that way. :nono:

Always allow yourself the luxury of using a VISA card for phone call purchases.
Long term that can be to your advantage.
