Awaiting customs clearance for 2 weeks
 

Hi,

My parcel from Hong Hong to UK is awaiting customs clearance for 2 weeks now. It was shipped by HK EMS. This is what tracking number is showing:

12-09-2013 International Hub Awaiting Customs clearance
12-09-2013 International Hub Received in destination country
10-09-2013 Delivery Agent - HONG KONG - PTT Forwarded for export
10-09-2013 Delivery Agent - HONG KONG Collected from customer

Parcel is quite small and has just 30 plastic boxes inside. Weight is about 3 kg and it's vero. I rang a few times to parcelforce and was told to wait. Today I just lost my patience and rang again they said they will make an inquiry with customs. Received a call a few hours later from parcelfrce customer rep saying my parcel is waiting inspection and I have to wait. At one point I had doubt a women knew what she is talking about.

I never had a parcel seized before. If I get it seized by customs will any information appear under parcel's tracking number? Maybe I am just worried too much but I never had to wait that long for a parcel to clear customs before.

Normally items clear customs around a week or so or will be updated that import tax is remaining to be paid in which case ParcelForce will write to you. If its vero it might have been seized particularly if your "plastic boxes" are ⊗⊗⊗⊗ of a popular brand then there's chance it will be seized and destroyed by customs.

Otherwise it is just a case of playing the waiting game. It could be due to the xmas season that customs will get busier with everyone importing stuff ready for it.

It they inspect it an the items are counterfeit then it will get seized and destroyed, your address will then be red flagged each time anything comes into the country for you.

Thanks for comments. This vero is really only just only packaging boxes. They have nothing inside apart from a name on them. If customs open and decide to seize it, will tracking number show them being seized? How will I know if they were seized? I know customs will send a letter but is there any other way to find out?

Never had it happen to me, but as far as I am aware the first indication that something has been seized is a letter though the door.

If seized it will show delivered to customs on the Parcelforce tracking site,and you will recieve a letter from them. Chances are its awaiting a vat charge.
