DHL, amazon and importation fees...

Hello.
In order to improve my Amazon account health and seller performance i decided to ship my items only with DHL Express. i sell 250-350$ priced items from China to USA.
I declare a real value for customs.
What happens when package enters the US? the buyer will be charged for customs fees at his door or DHL send him a letter to come and pay?
What if he refuses to pay? can he do that?
can't seem to understand Amazon policy about that...

Thanks

The buyer has to pay VAT and may have to pay duty depending on the nature of the product. He/she will be contacted by DHL to pay the fees. If the buyer declines to pay the taxes, the package will be held until payment is cleared.

Buyers will be stuck with custom fees - and will be very annoyed with you...not wise.

It does not matter which company you use to export to the USA with, the customer will always have to pay the import fees (VAT + Duty + Any fees charged by DHL, FedEx ect to handle the import charges on their behalf) on the declared value

If you do not explain carefully to your buyers about the chances of customs fees, those imports are not going to improve your account at all.

Are you listing on amazon com?

VAT applies for UK customs & taxes so that might confuse you too.

:peace:
