USPS Shipping - Website vs Amazon or eBay

It seems that when I print a USPS label (Priority) through their website, it shows as 2-day shipping. Even shows so on the label.

However if you print the same label from Amazon or Paypal it seems to be a longer 3 day service I believe.

Is this a benefit for using their site instead of Amazon. Amazon even charges 7 cents per shipping label.

if you ship enough and have seller status ebay gives discounts

I dont sell on eBay, just Amazon. What would the discount be do you know?

Also my questions is more about timing. Although its the same service, do packages get shipped faster if the label is printed through their site? because thats what it seems like.

I find it's the same , I ship all priority but only flat rate and prices for flat rate are the same, and it depends on which location u ship too, now priority will show 1 day, 2 day or 3 day on top of postage from all 3 sites , new change in priority mail that happened months ago

Go for the longer window - gives you more timeframe to work with and communicate with your customer

A longer time frame of delivery to have an annoyed buyer?

Interesting

If USPS shows 2 day and then it's delivered later than expected...buyers could be expecting the faster shipping and be annoyed

How would the buyer know what the shipment says?

I guess maybe people aren't understanding my question or maybe just arent familiar with it.

Lets say a buyer buys something from me on Amazon and then I go ahead and purchase the shipping label through Amazon's system. This seems to be the regular 3-4 day for Priority Mail.

When I go to print that same label on Paypal, I get a label that says its a guaranteed 3 day shipping.

When I go to print that label on USPS.com, I get a label that says guaranteed 2 day shipping. It even shows a guaranteed date.

I am just wondering if this is an advantage they give people for using their site.

If this is the case than I'd rather print all my labels through USPS.com rather than from Amazon's system where I even pay 7 cents more. (Not factoring convenience)

no they don't, i have the so call discount they give it its nothing more than what you get from other programs like stamps. I compared and prices and its the same so really no discount, at least not for me

Re: USPS Shipping - Website vs Amazon or eBay

It's,the same price and them showing the day on top of the postage was a change made about 6 months ago, it used to bar priority 2-3 day shipping

They gave priority mail a face lift and one was they changed the DESIGHN of all flat rate boxes

They also changed it from 2-3 to 1-3 day shipping and on top of the postage would put whether it's 1,2 or 3 days and this is printed out on all 3 venues

They also added 50 insurance to priority mail

Nothing has changed with the delivery times just the way they advertise and display it, but even so with priority mail it's not guaranteed

Usually if u ship something that is in your city u will get 1 day than 2 day is the next zone and 3 day the furthest

Re: USPS Shipping - Website vs Amazon or eBay

not really sure what the exact discounts are. We have top seller status and anchor store on one of our accounts and we save +/- cents? Its not that much, but it adds up. We switched to worldship/surepost with UPS and it was a nightmare. The UPS sales rep promised discounts and fast shipping. Well, every single customer complained about late shipments, no tracking.....Once it hits USPS, it goes to a different tracking system...It is really awful. Fedex has smartpost and that is similar, they both use USPS to make the final delivery...On paper, brilliant....Reality is logistics nightmare. It was around the holidays when we made the switch...maybe it is better non holiday...But the discounts promised were not there.

If you are Top Rated eBay seller and ship Priority you qualify for Commercial Plus pricing. If you are sending the majority of you items First Class it is likely the same across the board. The Commercial plus can be a few cents to a few dollars per package. Really depends if you ship items by weight or what kind of flat rate options you use. Even if it is .10 cents only per item. If you sell 2000 items a year. $200 back toward you. Not huge but worth it.

In short, all those labels are the same. Meaning you are getting the same shipping method. The label you get from usps is the most up to date format , the others are just a bit outdated or were specifically designed for services with eB or AZ and altered per their needs and policies.

From what I am seeing, packages with labels printed from USPS.com are being delivered faster than amazon labels. It is almost 2-days guaranteed everytime. And I checked and its not by zone, its 2-day almost everywhere in the US. The only places I haven't checked is Alaska, Hawaii and PR

Possibly so. I always looked at it like this. If you print off eBay I have never used Amazon. There is no room for human error. So if the buyer enters the wrong address etc. Which surprisingly has happened many times you have no way of being on the hook for. No chance of human error.

Thats very true, it seems like I am getting 1 or 2 of them every month.
