Anyone getting customs delays in shipping?
 

Anyone getting customs delays in shipping, east coast? My stuff hit inbound customs, and it is express international and has been sitting there a for 4 days, any clue?

It sounds like they either have or will be inspecting your package. If the items are legitimate, they will just be delayed. If they are counterfeits, you should be receiving a seizure notice in the mail explaining that they confiscated your package and telling you what your options are.

what exactly does the tracking say? can you post it here. sometimes delays are caused by custom duties that needs to be paid first.

4th of July just passed so may have contributed - unless you are finding this as a trend in general?

Thread was started prior to 4th July.

No slow down with our incoming items to WA State in the days before the holiday.

Sometimes sending too many packages by the same courier and route in too short a time can trigger customs examinations.

I had 2 Fedex packages on the run examined by UK customs recently, but both were sent on their merry way after 24-48 hours.

I swapped to DHL so the packages came a different route and had no further problems. I am planning to use the two couriers alternately so not too many packages come via the same airport.

My small EMS package has been stuck in customs since 3rd of July in LA.

Still nothing, I did have 2 packages split up and sent, maybe that triggered a manual check, son of a bitch.

If your package has been sitting there since 06/29 and it contained anything that was not 100% legitimate, you can assume it has been seized. You will most likely get a letter from US Customs explaining why they seized your merchandise and what your options are for contesting the seizure (I don't recommend it).

Be careful of 'generic' stuff.

That can still be seen as a copy of something & possibly seized.

If the items are generic, you MAY still get them. Sometimes it just takes a bit of time when Customs gets involved. It has happened to me before, and I think it took nearly 3 weeks to finally get my stuff (cables, non-branded).

You should contact your seller. Often (but not always) they will replace the order for you, or at least re-ship at a discount.

Yes I checked forfeiture.gov to see if similar products like mine have been seized, never. I have also looked to check if its restricted and its not, so I am ok

I don't import anything anymore. But 4-5 years ago when I did. Packages would often get stuck in customs for like a full week before being released. EMS was the worst because there is no customs broker on your side like DHL, EMS, UPS, FedEx, TNT, etc.

Had a few packages that just disappeared in customs as well. Where I am in life now. If you don't have the funds to get a container and get whatever you want the right way it is a waste of time.

Especially with people sell phakes. US Customs and Homeland Security keeps track of who is getting what now. 6-8 years ago I knew people who had stacks of like 20 letters saying they had items seized and they were going to be destroyed. Then in 2011 one person I knew who was still messing with that stuff had ICE raid his house. Had to go to court etc. Nasty mess of a deal.

But people still do it. Beyond my comprehension. Give the Federal Gov't a free look at what you are getting with your name and address associated with it.

I've been saying the same thing for a while now, but I always get shouted down. Then, the same people who shouted me down PM me to ask if I know of any attorneys who can help them...
