Delay with DHL

It's been 5 day and DHL has not accepted a package on the tracking. Is everyone else getting long delays?

Was it picked up? does it say 'shipment info received' or something?

Sounds like it wasnt picked up/dropped off.

I never myself have used DHL for eBay but I'm pretty sure its generally recommended not to use them for this reason..

We'll get some more responses soon to justify what I said or not.

Re: Delay with DHL

I LOVE DHL! It usually takes 2-4 days to get here.

At this time of the year, delays are common.

If it says "Shipment Information Received" it means the package is waiting to be picked up. Normally this happened within 24 hours. But given that it is just before Christmas now, I could see it taking up to a week.

And customs is the wildcard in all of this, because even when your merchandise is generic and non-branded, if your package gets selected for inspection that could add another 7-10 days onto the arrival date. That can happen REGARDLESS of who the carrier is.

Yea I am debating ordering anything for this reason exactly. DHL usually take 3-5 days to deliver, I'd give it 7-10 days this time of year. Shipping is SLOWWWW around Christmas.

Re: Delay with DHL

Do your items come out of HK or China? Often they drive over the causeway and export from Hong Kong and this can cause a delay in tracking although the freight is in transit.

Some people love it, others hate it.

Re: Delay with DHL

DHL sometimes is tricky on multiple packages. Sometimes you get 20 cases and all say 1of1 with a single tracking number.
Other than that I like them.
I ship Fedex though

Mines been stuck on shipment information received for 2 days. Delays are expected at this time of year.

Re: Delay with DHL

I double back on my intial comment. What I remeber reading is that DHL has issues with international and customs (loosing packages) or (not shipping it for whatever reason)...

Still had no idea so many users shipped via DHL, I never even thought twice about using them as a shipping service? What would the potential gain to use them? Just curious as they aren't nearly as popular as say, USPS, or FEDEX...why choose DHL?

Re: Delay with DHL

DHL is often the cheapest option for packages over 40kg. And they are NOT a bad service. When it comes to Customs issues, ANY package coming into the US via ANY carrier may be pulled for inspection at ANY time. It is NOT limited to DHL.

That is one of the big reasons when looking for new things to sell, I try to avoid importing. I DO import to be clear, And I import only generic items. But even if your merchandise is not problematic, it can still be DELAYED, sometimes for weeks, while customs is sorting out the issue. Business runs on PREDICTABILITY.

If I get my items from a local wholesaler, I don't usually care if I oversell, because I know I can get replacement QUICKLY should I need to. But if importing the items, I always try NEVER to oversell. Because while I might be expecting the package next Thursday, there are NO GUARANTEES that it will actually happen.

Re: Delay with DHL

i tried all ups fedex and dhl, fedex is the worst, ups is good but a it can take 6 to 7 days and sometimes more, both fedex and ups can be stoped by customs and take weeks. dhl take only 2 or 3 days and never it will be delayed in customs. DHL is the best service international for me and the packages arrive in very good condition FEDEX smash all the box also UPS.
