Shipment on hold, DHL

I ordered some retro electronics from Japan over the weekend. Everything looked good until... today. It was scheduled for delivery yesterday, but I got: The Estimated Delivery Date is currently unavailable. Please try again later. So, it finally updated to this not too long ago: Shipment on hold CINCINNATI HUB, OH - USA 05:35

Why? I'm closer, a lot closer to LA than Ohio. Any idea what's going on? This is my first encounter with DHL.

Have you asked DHL? That would be my first port of call

All of my stuff comes through the Cinci hub but it doesn't make much sense for your order to be sent there after going through California. It also doesn't make sense for them to send it all the way to Ohio for a customs inspection (especially since customs is a lot tighter on the west coast).

So I'm guessing there was an address error? I have nothing to base that on though.. you need to call DHL.

So I called yesterday. They told me it was on hold because of an address error. The guy said all their stuff is processed in Ohio there, so apparently that's why it went to there from LA, but that doesn't explain why it decided to go to Austin, Texas...

Why does it say this:
Destination Service Area: PORTLAND, OR - AUSTIN - USA

Portland is not in or within 1,000 miles of Austin, so what gives? The guy on the phone said it wouldn't be going to Austin, why would it?

Your supplier must have messed up the zip code. All of my orders go straight from the Cinci Hub to my local delivery warehouse, where I pick them up. Usually no more than 3 days after shipment.

It's possible that it was sent to CA at first because your supplier put a west coast state, then it was forwarded to OH after the zip code was checked.

Very strange situation you've got here. Hopefully you will still receive the order and they don't return to sender. DHL is really killing themselves on fuel costs with this shipment..
