Default HELP!!! ebay suspended my account in connection with my brothers account! HELP!

Hi i need some help asap please. did try a search but no luck.

ebay have suspended my account they are saying my account is linked to another ebay account '

they have suspended my account for the same reason 3 times now that's twice in a month. I have explained to them nay times i don't own that account, The owner of that account is my younger brother. His account was suspended do to ''seller non performance'' about 2 odd years ago. he has not used ever since.

but now they have suspended my account and my wife's account. we have different address, different pay pal account, different bank accounts different everything. we are 3 different people. for some reason they cant get this through their thick brains. all they keep saying is please get the previously suspended account reinstated.

which obviously can not be reinstated. its not my job to get it reinstated as its not my account. however i spoke to me bro and he told me he contacted them and they have said they can not reinstate his account. even though 2 years ago he resolved all issues on his account gave out refunds and tracking numbers. he has 350 positive feedback and only 4 neg.

I have 192 positive and only 1 neg which was a mistake my wife has over 300 100% positive.

i was made redundant in January so i took my work on to ebay and now they are screwing me over i have a massive mortgage to pay 2 kids and a wife to provide for.

I really need to get this sorted asap please advise what can be done as their customers service is terrible

The only things that can be similar are we have the same surname, i some times use his address to ship items to as he lives at home with my parents. When i go to visit i sometimes use the pc at there meaning the log in IP address may be the same from time to time.

I think the main thing is i have taken over from what my bro was selling on ebay 2 years ago. But the fact is we are all individual people the new business is not being run by him. he has no access to my accounts and i have no access to his account!

Any help will be much appreciated!

I am sure that more experienced members than me will offer their help on saving your existing account but I would suggest setting up a back-up account ASAP just in case you can't get this one up and running again.

It seems to be agreed by most here that if you set up a new account it's not wise to sell on it for a month, so the sooner you set it up the better. Hopefully you'll never have to use it, but just in case...!

Both the forums and eBay Stealth offer loads of advice on setting up a new account; just make sure you read thoroughly before you start so you don't make any silly mistakes, as I've recently done.

Good luck!

Hi mate, thanks for the reply. the thing is if i open a new account they will just close it down again. Due to the unique products i sell they will easily be able to track it down. even if i change all details ip add pay pal add etc

I run a business offering made to measure furniture. On ebay i was selling made to measure floating shelving and custom DJ deck stands. There are only a few sellers on ebay doing this. so it wont be to hard to track down or even one of them to report me.

My brother was also selling similar items 2 odd years ago when he use to use ebay. But he changed jobs. so now as i got made redundant from my job i have taken over 2 years later.

I personally reckon this is how they are linking both accounts. But the fact is we are two different people. The business is being run by me now not him. We are two individual people. He dose not have access to my account and i dont have access to his account.

There must be a way to argue this and prove this to the customer support. This is so simple to understand but they are making a meal out of all this. They way their customer support is going on its like its a terrorist attack where there is no going back.

I haven't don't anything wrong i have a very good record on eBay. Why cant they resolve such small issues like this.

ok, unless you all sell exact same product, I think you will eventually resolve this through ebay, you can offer to upload or email id to them for all three people, and it should get resolved,

If you resolve it or not, i suggest you create a backup account and I also think in future you should not use same ip and preferably not same pc as the other people, as their mistakes will mess you up, as you can see...

correction; comparing fags to ebay employees, is an insult to fags.

Mate i offered to come down to Dublin with my brother and my wife to prove to them that we are 3 different people, the items are not the exact same as my brother only had about 5 listings where as i had around 70 odd.

The fact is the business was handed over to me. Ebay are just being a bunch of idiots. What i would like to know is what is the next step up? who can i go to next??

is it possible to sue them??

Do they have a head office number?? is it worth going to watch dog with the complaint?? i am so stuck i am loosing money every day, which i cant afford.

If you go to Dublin, please pepper spray them for me..no seriously...

Forget suing them. watchdog etc..

0700-500-3229, 0700-809-9181, or 0208-605-3000, try these I just looked them up online.

I find it a bit mysterious that you dont have access to each others accounts, but got linked, so its the product or the surname..I agree with you I dont see the crime in that. What mistake did your relative make exactly? I mean did someone get banned and you got linked?

If they are the same product they may see you as same person with many accounts, make some more non linked accounts and start selling again, although if your product is totally unique you may have problems, I think it is worth a try, doubt they can prove anything if you make an account that has no name address similarities. With your type of business feedback is important, so it would be a slow start, but another one or two accounts will always be useful now or if this happens again. Try a po box as its a business account.

If in the meantime you are reinstated thats fine, follow their procedure, I think you will be ok with what youve told us, it just takes time..

remember they really are a bunch of idiots, you know the type who try and eat soup with a fork..

for starters, calm down if you have to talk to them. You know what they are like, I know what they are like but no need to write or say all the rubbish you have.
UNLESS you take a calmer approach you will get nowhere. Get back in touch with your brother & get all the info about his suspension. Double check that he resolved all of the suspension problems. As it stands now,
in the eyes of ebay, under the terms of their user agreement, they 'see' you as the same. Work a story along the lines of having a strong family
unit, you tried to help your parents as a loving son. The parents told you that the brother was no longer using ebay & you made a business etc etc.
Don't be rude, beat them.

Hi, thanks for all you advise ppl! really appreciate it. I totally agree a calm approach is always better but when you are dealing with people who cant understand a simple thing and that simple thing is stoping me from paying my £1500.00 mortgage and providing for me family. It gets a little hard to stay calm. Its like your not talking o a human seems like you are talking to a computer!

Anyways what i have done so far is written out a 2 page letter to explain all the details and i have also got my brother to write out a letter is well. What i will also do is as suggested send in mine, my wife's and my brothers ids in.If all this dont prove that we are 3 individual people god knows what will.

I will also try those number which have been posted. Just hope someone with a brain reads all this info. Its so simple!

just been on the phone to them and they say they will NOT reinstate any family members account. they say any family member which is linked to my brother can not have a ebay account! kids , grand children etc

they are trying to make it out like my bro is some Nigerian scammer!

Looks like i will be going on the dole!

Speaking from what I know of ebay, you have been treated exactly as they treat people: very very poorly. Not that the sentiment helps you that much. OK, what next? You mentioned you have a unique item so that may be difficult to sell at this point. But there is probabily no reason why you could not 'recreate' an account with items your wife sold? Is that possible? The forum has many users who got back to ebay this way.
Feel free to send me a pm for any info
