LLC tax ID number

I got the LLC from my state. I expected it to come with a tax ID number and it didn't. I have to get the TAx ID number separately. When getting the Tax ID number do I just put the LLC information on the paperwork and will that connect everything or do I have to also have my paperwork changed and the TAX ID added to my LLC?

It's two separate filings - one federal and one state. Use your LLC name on the EIN application and you'll be good to go.

I was confused about this too when I was getting started. I learned from a banker that there's no mention of "EIN" anywhere on your LLC's articles of organization. So, you won't have to worry about going back and adding an EIN to your LLC paperwork.
