A good way of checking how aggressive the plantiff is, is to check their company's name on pacer to see if they filed any suits before. Those could be an eye-opening experience. On the other hand, if they filed none, I'd tell them to go F themselves. Not a penny, not a dime. Period. There's this saying that if you give in to an extortion artist once, then you'll keep giving in to his demands at every other point in the interaction. And that's what most of those lawfirms are - extortion artists, as they are blatanly extorting money from random people online under the threat of a civil action.
