Question about new phones and the app

So I decided against changing the email address and am now leaning towards the app for notifications. New phone with absolutely nothing on - is it safe to run the apps without connecting to wifi? Should the phone be in the account name? But it will have a different number. I'm currently running on a new user in windows with an IPBurger Fresh IP but have no access to the email. All I want is to be able to get notifications of sales or questions so I'm not logging in unless i have to.

What do you mean? I'm finding it difficult to grasp.

Are you saying you're using the eBay app for "get notifications of sales or questions"?

You can get the same notifications via email, and you wont need a new phone or the ebay app.

As long as your phone has not had the ebay/paypal app on it before then you should be ok.

And definitely dont connect it to wifi if that wifi has already been used on another ebay/paypal account.

I do not believe the apps will see the owner of the phone, nor the phone number. But they can see different identifiers of the phone that will prevent you from using other ebay/paypal accounts on that same phone.

I have all my personal ebay/paypal accounts emails going to my main smart phone. I have around 20 email addresses going to that phone. I have never had an issue. But at most I open the emails. I do not click any links or reply using my phone to anything from ebay or paypal.

I dont have access to the email associated with ebay/PayPal therefore the only way I know if theres a sale or a question is to log in. I want to avoid that as much as possible. I have 3 blank phones I can set up to run the apps so that notifications come across the phone as long as they dont tie in to the number/name. I don't need to work via the phone, I just want the ding so I know I need to log in.

Side note - I have access to the person with the email in case any issues arise.

Right - You dont want to use the app. Its not just about using it on a "blank" phone, there's so much more you need to take into account, and one hiccup is all it takes for the account to get limited. Even though i'm a lot more experienced, I still steer well clear from apps to stay on the safe side.

Now your situation with the account seems a bit all over the place. Sounds like you're using someone elses account with their permission I presume.

What you need to do is gradually open a new email account, change the email on the ebay/paypal accounts (with the owners permission), and then use that.

Yeah I'm using a friends old dead account. I didnt want to change the email right away and was hoping to find an alternative way. I just ended up getting everything forwarded to my email. Turns out she doesn't use anything associated with that account so I wouldn't be snatching her emails. Best part is it's her exes account so if anything happens it only affects him lol well and me of course.
