Does anyone have any idea how eBay decides how many returns are too many?

Does anyone have any ideas on whether time factors into getting suspended? I'm thinking that the factors would be:

• The number of returns.
• The frequency of returns.
• The ratio of returns to unreturned purchases.

However, I'm not sure what matters more.

i would like to know this too, i am guessing its more to do with the reason for return. if your getting way to many " is not authentic" then am guessing you going to get flagged.

3mo period, recurring. Under Performance > Service Metrics. Higher your percent compared to peers, higher risk you are to ebay.

Hm.. there is no clear answer to this. The "good" % of returns depends on the products you are selling. If you sell clothes then the return rate is big and I am sure ebay takes that into account.

Dont bother to find a "golden number". Just handle your returns through messages and not cases.

Strange question... Maybe choose the items your buying a bit more carefully if you are having to return that many of them?

If you're having to ask these questions I suggest you buy you items in a physical store.

I must admit my returns rate as a buyer is a much higher % on ebay compared to anywhere else. Mainly because ebay sellers tend to be some of the worst at misrepresenting there products.

For this very reason I've grown a custom to just buying stuff on Amazon. I know there wont be any surprises, and I wont need to faff about with returns afterwards.

The algorithm behind this would be category based. I know Amazon do it that way, not too certain about eBay though.

If you return items on Amazon far more than the average buyer, you'll get limited. Some categories result in quicker limitations than others. If you Google it, you'll find buyers who've been suspended on Amazon talking about this.

The general rule of thumb (not just with returns), is to be a good buyer, and you wont have issues.
