Chinese Sellers

What can we do with these Chinese sellers who have a Chinese account and a verified PayPal account claiming to be shipping the product from within the USA when in fact they are shipping from China by e packet and putting the tracking number in buyers record.

We all know that they are contravening eBay's policy but eBay do not seem to care. One I saw was doing the same thing for Australia as well as USA stating they were in both countries as well for shipping, however the negative feedback tells the true story.

I think if we all reported them to eBay they may get the message.

I got rid of one for listing practices where in a listing they where using variations for unrelated products and having a variation for a bag which the image says out of stock but is live so it shows as a $1.99 listing when in fact most of he products were over $10.

What do you guys think?

Get rid of one, another 2 will pop up. I've just learnt to deal and compete with them, no point reporting each others listings, i compete by delivering within 1-2 days, as many buyers are looking for products delivered fast.

Mmm.. if they get enough Item Not Recieved cases for late delivery Ebay will auto-adjust their shipping time and drop them in search. Some new policy as of last September.

I agree service and communication with buyers they can not compete on, in the USA I noticed their prices are increasing which is a good thing.

This is the problem with eBay & Amazon. They both are publicly traded companies and they both have share holders to please. Because of the short-term gratification culture, eBay is always on the look for a quicker buck, therefore they invited all these Chinese sellers on their platform. Such sellers have really caused legit small-medium sized local businesses to be shut off. So eBay ended up losing the local sellers who had real potential to grow and won the Asia-based sellers who do business only to gain a few cents in profits. I feel that eBay changed its attitude towards Chinese sellers, but I also think this change came too late.


Aliexpress made it clear that only Chinese sellers are allowed on the platform. A lot of people accused Aliexpress of being protectionist and not open, but in my opinion, they are damn right about their decision. eBay should have taken the exact same measure to protect its local markets.

They do in fact get banned and reported. But there are so many. They just don't have the numbers to deal with them.

As someone else mentioned - take down one and two others will pop up. A useless waste of your time.

Eh.. only reason products can be resold by businesses at a profit is because they're imported / outsourced from factories that have fast turnover manufacturing speeds.. or if yer lucky it's sourced locally. But that's where it started. China happened to be the best candidate... lots of Chinese farmers moving to cities for better pay cause of it. Was concern by their gov at one point over food production.

Don't really blame Ebay including foreign sellers.. would have done the same for my business.

Why keep hurting yourself trying to climb over a high wall though..

Lots of stuff out there being regularly imported that the Chinese aren't bothering to sell individual units at cents on the dollar. Could very well just be impractical for them to do so. Easy to switch, one of the perks of online retail.. and if you plan on going big and bulk even more power to ya.. thanks to the Chinese

I am lucky as i have a niche market and although what the Chinese sell is not of the quality as ours we still compete on price, quick shipping and good results.

i have dealt with the Chinese for 25 years and the one thing that lets them down is customer service, in China returns is non existent so when the rest of the world want returns they fall back onto old ways, plenty of promises but no refund or return. When I used to purchase from manufacturers there I had to put returns from customers into my pricing as their promised extra stock to cover with shipment never materialized.

One thing they are getting clever with is marketing, create a brand, professional images even their English is getting polished which is attracting buyers.

On eBay we have to be as good as them in marketing and we will beat them all the time.

If your focus is solely compete on price, you cut yourself short by operating like you are trading commodities with a small fixed profit or loss. Offer excellent service, fast shipping and a better offering as a whole. It is not very hard to outsell most Chinese sellers because they beat the same drum and prices into the ground.
Take better pictures, ship faster, respond to questions quicker and bundle items and you can do very well in those areas flooded with Chinese OR get better items to sell. I suggest both.

Side note - this crap here drives me crazy and I report the listing every time I see that done. It's just stupid. If I'm looking for a good deal on hard drive enclosures why would you show me a $.99 silicone case for the hard drive enclosure I'm trying to buy.
