Default Lloyd’s account closed

Lloyd’s just closed down my account after 10 years. They must of put something on my credit report, as I applied for nationwide and they said they can’t accept me at this moment in time.

I still have a first direct account, monzo, starling, n26

But neee atleast 6 more bank accounts. Any one have any ideas?

Why did they close it ? doing business under mis matched names for 10 years or because you have opened and closed far too many accounts ?

I've read Lloyds are trouble on this forum many times.

If you're really curious to see if the bank put a comment on your credit file, you need to wait 28 days then sign up to see your credit file. Try checkmyfile.com or Equifax. Better be safe than sorry so try not to open other bank accounts until you've seen your file.

Here is a list of Banking groups (in bold) you could look at. Banks that do not support mismatched are included.

1. HBOS
Bank of Scotland
Birmingham Midshires
Halifax
Intelligent Finance
Saga

2. Lloyds Banking Group
Lloyds Bank.

3. TSB

4. Barclays
Barclays
Standard Life

5. HSBC
First direct
HSBC
M&S Bank

6. Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)
7. NatWest
8. Ulster Bank
9. Coutts & Co

10. Santander UK
Cahoot
Santander

11. The Co-operative Bank
Britannia BS
Smile
The Co-operative Bank

12. Bank of Ireland UK
Bank of Ireland UK
AA
Post Office

13. Clydesdale Bank PLC (CYBG)
Clydesdale Bank
Yorkshire Bank
Virgin Money

14. Sainsbury's Bank
15. Tesco Bank
16. Monzo
17. Starling Bank
18. Al Rayan Bank
20. Gatehouse Bank
21. Revolut

On a serious note, a high street bank closing an account is beyond worrying, it's normally reserved for suspected criminal activity and fraud, even if they say otherwise. I can't imaging what your credit report now looks like.
That's not true.

That’s one reason they can close it. Far from the only reason though

I expect it’s due to mismatching names

It would be great to see factual evidence that a mismatching name = fraud.

Dont know about UK,but in US,if it senses hanky panky and they suspect trouble down the road, they dont feel comfortable with the way you conduct business, they can cancel your accounts.
Having multiple accounts in stealth names and accepting payments would be one, dont you think so?
you dont have just one account, you have many .

THEY DONT have to prove fraud,if they dont feel comfortable doing business with you, they can decline service or close your account .
You can argue with them, but how do you explain you have all these mismatched accounts?

I didn't say that they did... Banks, just like PayPal, can close an account for any reason they want.

Lloyds are very very renowned for this when it comes to mismatching names. I have known quite a few people first hand have issues with them. They have never used the term fraud though. They have always said that they are uncomfortable with how the account is being run when they shut the account down. I have also known a few times in which they have allowed the account to remain open. Its a very large step to go from there to a CIFA marker which is what causes a lot of people to have issues opening bank account

At the moment there is just a lot of guess work. There are dozens of reason the OP could have issues opening a bank account with nationwide. He may have opened too many in a short space of time. May already have poor credit rating. He may have tried to get one with an overdraft and been rejected for it.

OP really should be looking at his credit record. They may well be a very reasonable explanation as to why he was unable to open a Nationwide. Its possible Lloyds have put a CIFA marker there (which he can ask Lloyds directly to confirm) although I think its quite unlikely.

I never understand why people open a thread but don't continue participating and answering questions.

Please let us know why you think they closed your account it would help many of us stealthers @bloodface906

My credit score is 900+ and I was accepted for a £110,000 Bentley finance a few mo the ago. And now I can’t even open a bank account lol.

I have gotten in touch with the appropriate authorities to see the notes left.

I have also hired a lawyer, but in the meantime I need to keep my eBay income coming in.

I am unsure as to why, the letter did not say why. I have gotten my lawyer to contact them on my behalf, should get a update in a few days

0 real bank accounts. Unless monzo starling and N26 count, then it’s 3 😂.

Never mind. All resolved

F*cks sake. This forum is a minefield, we have legit people trying to get back to selling but worst of all I easily forget it's full of dodgy people.

It was a geniune issue. My lawyer had sent out a complaints letter with proof of funds, and magically the branch manger contacted me.

They did request that I upgrade to a business account and restricted the amount of saving accounts I can make.

You might have got a CIFAS marker.

Try another EU bank while you can. This is not uncommon.

UK has some of the most poorly thought out laws when it comes to banking
