lloyd tsb saving account and halifax saving account not working anymore

i have had problem with adding the bank account and to paypal tried a few account and got the error

"On , we attempted to transfer from your bank account, ending in xxxx. This transfer was returned by your bank on x xxx. 2008 for the reason below:

This is an invalid bank account number.


As a result, this bank account has been disabled from your PayPal account. Please contact your bank for more information or add a new bank account. Please do not contact PayPal because this is entirely an issue between the account holder and their bank.

i account number is deffinatly right as i tried with 3 accounts

so i rang tsb up and they told me that thy do not offer direct debit on any of the saving accounts.

any new ideas

I use natwest (step account) basic account easy to get online
cooperative bank basic account also online.
both are easy to get and work smoothly on ebay and paypal.

Once you have used to card and it gets banned phone your bank and tell them its stolen they will send you a new card, with new card number etc which can be used again effortless when it comes to needing the account number thats when i use gift card

I have had the same issue with a hsbc savers account. The penny instalments were done and i verified the account. However i recieved a msg from paypal exactly the same as the msg mentioned above.

As far as i was aware my savers account supported dd well thats what i got told anyway. When i called the hsbc call centre i was transferd to a adviser in india who said yes the saving account will support dd but he first said that it wouldnt. So am assuming he gave me wrong info as usuall

Halifax has not worked correctly FOR MONTHS Lloyds tsb has a double problem. Firstly it has been mentioned as a bank that shares information with paypal and secondly the direct debit mandate gets removed and thus its accounts FAIL for paypal.
**Halifax & Lloyds are problematic for paypal verification AS OF 12/12/2008**
Entropay does work for paypal/ebay.
I have info which I will post later that should help.

I have just had the same problem with a Barclays Active Savings Account which apparently does support DD. The address I provided on the Paypal direct debit agreement was a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name and different to that of the bank account. This is very worrying...

with halifax you can also easily open new "current accounts" or "easycash" accounts online, it doesn't need to be a savings account. so that should still work...
