What about used DVD's? | Try it, come back and let us know.
I personally sold playing cards, cheap inexpensive very low risk.
DVDs in my opinion can be high risk due to piracy but I never tried.

Just buy anything in bulk, and get rid individually. Paint brushes, collectibles, anything that isn't high risk.
Just break even or take a bit of a loss to establish your accounts before you start listing what you actually make profits on ( your regular item )

Week 1 = List 1 item (BIN)
Week 2 = List 2 Items (BIN) (yes all BIN)
Week 3 = List 4 Items
Week 4 = List 6 Items
Week 5 = List 10 Items
Week 6 = List 24 Items
Week 7 = List 30 Items
Week 8 = List 40 Items
Week 9 = List 50 Items
Week 10 = List 60 Items
Week 11 = List 70 Items
Week 12 = List 85 Items
Week 13 = List 100 Items
Week 14 = List 125 Items
Week 15 = List 150 Items
This was going to be my listing. ((Note when I say 10 items, I mean total quantity listed on the account would be 10. So max items I can sell that week is 10. Its not 10 listings with 10 qty each item.
Does above look ok to you? If not what would you change and how long/how many sales would you aim to get before selling properly.

I sell my everyday goods everyday. I never understand selling other items that you dont make any profit on. Seems like a waste of time and energy. Why not sell your regular items and at least make a profit?

So you mean
Assume I sell candle sticks
You would sell 1 candle stick, then 3 candles sticks, then 5 etc etc etc
Instead of selling other items at a loss
You would just sell the candle sticks slowly and increase sales of candle sticks, and integrate new style of candle sticks over time?

One thing I do is make sure my first sale is my highest valued item. Example: I will sell a $120 item right off because in the past if I sold 50 $30 items and then sell a $120 item, the funds would be held for unusual activity. It I sell higher dollar items right away, that doesn't happen.
Keep in mind, I dont sell anything risky and my customers are usually satisfied with all accounts being top rated and less than 1% return rate.

Maybe I will use both items then to be on the safe side, one to build up the account and the other to also build up but make a profit
And, I understand the logic, 90% of my items are lower than $20 though but I like the thought process

In a nutshell, low risk items. That is, products that generally are not known to be counterfeited and so forth.

It's very easy, and even ebay give you a hint about what to sell
for personal accounts : sell anything that you OWN, like anything in your house, personal belongings, etc.
for business accounts: you sell those you have bought from a supplier/retailer/wholesaler.
It's simple as that.

Hi !
If you are not too concerned about losing a bit of change or even be break even. Seeing as you are from UK like myself. I'd advise you to go to your local discount store.
Such as B&M. Buy small things which are easy and cheap to post like art colouring kits, books, pencil cases, etc.
Stick them on ebay bid or BIN for a lower price with fast shipping.
Once it is sold send out quickly and don't forget to ask the buyer for feedback.
Watch the feedback roll in and your account grow !

How long/how many sales is good to build up for? | Hey,
Okay, well I'm not too keen on the virtual ebooks side. I do everything physical.
Sales wise you would want at least 10 feedback to get the yellow star.
This generally gives buyers a go sign.
How long for this? that all depends on how much you sell and how many feedback you get but I'd say with my method above you should sell about 30 cheap items minimum then you'd get about 10 feedback.
