Alright, so yesterday my account got hit with this email notification. I'm actually willing to give up this Paypal account, but I have some questions before that happens.

1) Once my account is limited, I understand I won't be able to receive new payments. However, will I be able to send payments from my existing balance?

2) How long does it take for an account to be limited while doing nothing about the whole Taxpayer situation? I ask because that's the window I have time to act on. I just want to make one more purchase.

Tax limitation means you can't receive more payments. Your ability to spend funds is not affected.

You're talking about a US PP, right? As of now the rule is that you'll be limited after 200 transactions if you don't provide tax info. Word is that next year it's dropping from 200 to 1.

Thanks. I've been putting my head in the sand and ignoring it.


So then, just maybe, the new rule will be $600 AND 200 transactions.. since they didn't mention changing the threshold for the amount of transactions? Probably wishful thinking.

After the tax ID email and my attempt to transfer money, I was hit with the following:
My question is, how long would they keep the money if I do nothing?

We've also temporarily limited certain features in your PayPal account.

Currently, you won’t be able to:

Make a payment
Withdraw money

If you're unable to submit the required information on or before November 14, 2021 or if we notice additional changes in your account activity, your access will be further limited.

What happens next?

After you've submitted the information, we'll review and get back to you regarding the status of your account within 3 business days.

We appreciate your attention to this matter.
