How can they be asking for a US taxpayer number if its a Canadian paypal? Something in your story doesn't add up.
If this is indeed the case it must be a glitch or a mistake and you should call them.

Not sure but I provided my info they didn’t ask for anything but my first last name and address. And I got an email saying “Thank you

Sounds like a bug in the system. Just ignore them for now.
