Default Ebay selling fees 36% of revenue!

Hi all

My ebay selling fees are getting as high as 36% of revenue.

The reason for this is I am using subtitles, bold listings and sponsored listings / sponsored listing advanced which are very expensive but do bring in sales.

Any tricks to keep ebay fees low whilst still maintaining sales?

I was thinking about hiring a "Fiverr expert" to review my listings and make optimisation recommendations. If I got reduce my fees without losing sales that would be great.

I just got my top rated seller status back so that should give me a 10% discount I think

Any insights you have would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pretty certain I saw this new thread yesterday?????

Fees are what they are, ebay know that if you don't pay it someone else will and they'll get the visibility.

You appear to know how it works, I can't see how spending money with a 'fiverr expert' is the solution.

Is anyone else uncomfortable with sharing details of their successful account with a basement based wannabee stranger? Just a thought.

This is well put - @fernendo, if you are looking for more info on being successful, you are going to have to put out more info to "open up"...

Yes I understand I have a lot of optional fees which can be cut. The age old question is do these features bring in more sales than they cost which isn't easy to answer without a lot of trial and error or guessing based on other peoples experience.

The sponsored advanced listings for example bring in a lot of sales but are extremely expensive perhaps I need to optimise my keywords to get as low CPC as possible.

Obviously I would never ever share my ebay password or any other sensitive ebay details with a Fiverr seller but if I found a seller with an established sales and feedback history I might share with them the listing ID which is public anyway and details on what keywords I'm using at that info is no big deal to give away right?

I'm not looking to hire some Fiverr amateur that's after quick cash for minimal effort it would have to be someone with genuine skill and experience with the feedback to back it up. Yes there are idiots on fiverr believe me I have dealt with them but there are also excellent sellers too you've gotta be picky and not shy to demand a refund if your expectations aren't met.

So in a nut shell most of my fees are from promoted advanced listings where I pay per click. An "expert" in PPC marketing might be able to help me increase sales and / or lower costs hence why I thought Fiverr might be worth a gamble if I could find a very highly reputable seller offering a reasonable price.

agree, get rid of bold and subtitles,or just choose bold.
depends on what you sell, are there many sellers selling the same items?then price matters,as most buyers search for lowest price with free shipping

I don't see the need for the extra features like bold and subtitles.

If the item sells, it'll sell. People are more concerned about price

It's a unique item. If there are many other sellers I totally agree that bold and subtitle is a waste of money.

I will get rid of bold as that's crazy expensive. Might keep subtitles as they are a lot cheaper.

Are you selling generic items like everyone else and competing by being the lowest price possible ? if that's the case then you have no choice I guess.

Alternatively look at adding value to your existing products so they are more attractive to buyers.
