Is Driver License Upload Replacing LexisNexis?

I made a new account in November and aged it and made several purchases on it. I went to list my first item last night and it asked me to upload driver license to verify identity. I did this and passed, but was wondering: Is this new and replacing previous system of answering personal questions via LexisNexis?

Also wondering if eBay will keep a copy of DL and use it for linking purposes down the road.

Appreciate any insight!

All info is retained by eBay, if this was a stealth account and you used creative ID, then you must of chosen one of the 5 states that do not share drivers license information with a common database that eBay use to check.

These states are District of Columbia. Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Tennessee, and Wisconsin
