Need help urgently - Can't refund a buyer

Hi all

A buyer wants to cancel his order but I have no funds in my ebay uk account as there was recently an automatic payout.

I can't add funds anymore as the Revolut virtual cards no longer work with stealth.

I could try to buy my own product so that there is enough money in the account to refund them but that seems risky.

If I don't refund the transaction it will become a dispute which will have a bad impact on my account.

Can someone help me? I'm not sure what to do.

just to clarify - the payout goes to your Revolut or other bank account?

Thanks for your reply the payout goes directly to my bank account. Usually I use my balance for refunds but this request came in after a payout and I've not had an order since.

I'm already a day late on refunding it's stressing me out to no end.

I used to use Revolut virtual cards for refunds but it no longer works

are you able to refund from a gift cc or ...might have to upload funds from your bank acct?

If there's no pending funds to take it from wouldn't their next port of call be your bank account before your card?

There is no option to upload funds from bank account it wants credit or debit card only. Maybe I will look into adding a direct debit option if that's possible

It says my bank account is:-

Used for payouts
Preferred for selling costs

However there is no option to use it to refund the buyer. It only alllows credit or debit card.

There is, it's an option in 'selling costs'.

Any refund I've ever given in the same situation has gone from my bank, lets not forget many sellers don't even have a card attached, it's not mandatory.

ask a friend to buy from you,also get a bank debit card

Have you tried refunding and see what happens,like the other said,it may just end up with a negative balance.
In Paypal days,they just expect you to keep selling and any new sales proceeds would be used to offset the negative

why not call Ebay and see if it can do something?
or sell something quickly at a loss if you have to,or have a friend to do it

I think you can refund the buyer, and then you ll just get a negative
balance on your ebay. From there, ebay will take it automatically from your
attached bank.

I think the refund can be done manually only by card ,e bay may try to take money from the bank if there is the dispute

Exactly this. No option to do it from bank only credit or debit card.

I tried to refund it wont work. Already in negative balance due to selling fees. It will only go further into negative balance if the buyer disputes it and wins.

There is no option on the UK eBay platform to refund except from a credit or debit card with the name and address of the eBay account holder on it.
There are some people in the marketplace on here who have VCC that work on UK eBay and can be reloaded.
If you do not do anything the customer can open a case and ding your metrics.

Thanks for this I'll check out the seller section I wasn't aware VCCs would still work

Hi all

Thanks a lot for your help. I was able to resolve this by adding a Revolut Virtual CC on the account (the card had the correct address but wrong name).

Surprisingly it worked. Hopefully it won't trigger a suspension or anything else unfortunate. I suppose it was a little risky but I was desperate. Before when I tried Revolut they had stopped working for stealth but seem to be working again now.

I do however have to keep changing my address in Revolut to match my stealth account which I need to be careful about as Revolut may get suspicious of this and close my account I mean who constantly moves between 3 different addresses?
