Default Auction end price / bidding question

I recently bid on an auction on eBay UK (a few seconds before the auction end) and ended up being the winning bidder.

My bid was £164.05. When I refreshed the auction page and saw I'd won the auction, I was surprised to see that the end price was exactly £164.05. The next highest bidder's bid was £160.00.

Seeing as there are £2 increments, how did the end price end up being £4.05 higher than the next highest bid?

Another bidder may have bid £162.05 and then retracted their bid which would have left your bid higher, I think only the seller can see retracted bids.

I just checked the auction bid history and my bid was actually £164.09. It seems extremely unlikely someone would have bid exactly £2 less than that. Also, my bid was placed literally 5 seconds before the auction end, so there wouldn't have been time to retract. I'm wondering if this may be some kind of bug on Ebay's site.

The second high bidder is willing to go to 260 and you outbidded him.
This is common, esp if the auction ends at odd hour like mid day when he could be at work to watch it
