Default eBay's Managed Payments - What Is This?

So I must admit I'm a bit confused when comes to what MP actually is. I have been reading post on here of people saying stuff like this:

"MP doesn't have your account history, however eBay and PayPal does"

........................................... or

"You have to use stealth info when signing up for eBay, but not for MP"

I thought MP was eBay, so I have to say I'm not sure what it is, or what I can and can't do with it. Any Tips, Tricks or Advice? Sorry guys

I got that part, but what's the deal with people saying it's ok to register with MP using your legal info and the register with eBay using your stealth info. So is Managed Payments a separate company such as paypal was?

Ebay ditched Paypal and goes with AYDEN,a Dutch company.
You can open an Ebay account without opening a managed payment account with Ayden, but you wont be able to buy anything, unless it is local pickup or wiretransfer.
There are some precious metal dealers on Ebay selling 6 figures gold buillion and they only take wiretransfer .
And if you sell, you would have to open a MP account linked to your bank account so it can collect the payment from your seller and deposit into your bank account.
Not much different from Paypal.
As to using different info for EBAY and MP,MP does not check your Ebay account, thats my understanding, some one may shed more light

I like Paypal better as you can keep sales proceeds in your Paypal account and even move money from your bank account to your Paypal.
It allows you to hold multiple currencies and using its debit card as a credit card, you get 1% cash rebate.

opening a MP in stealth?
what kind of bank account are you going to use?
Also why are you having problem transferrin fund from one paypal account to another?
Friend and family transfer has no fee,but Paypal keeps an eye on it

I doubt Ebay cannot see your MP account,I suspect EBAY has an account with AYden AND we are just sub accounts within Ebay account.
Think, how many people would Ayden need to hire to deal with every Ebay seller, some barely do $100 in a month?
Just like PAYPAL,all the banks and credit card issuers deal with Paypal, not us.
A chargeback hit Paypal, then Paypal will notify us because Paypal has the merchant account to accept credit cards, same with banks,Paypal has accounts with them.

Why not just go stealth with the ebay account and managed payments aswell.
-------------
You are in US,whose SSN would you be using in your stealth account?

I think it is a matter of time Ebay /Ayden wants you Ebay account agrees with your bank account.
Etsy also uses Ayden,it wants your bank account name to agree with the name you used to open your Etsy account, your shop name can be different,it has run into problems when they are different,eg if your Ebay/Etsy account has been hijacked and the hijacker replaces your bank account with his bank account?
It has happened with AMZN third party marketplace,an ex employee replaced his ex employer bank account with another bank account and siphoned off $80K

AMZN can see which bank account was used to transfer the $80K,but refused to share the bank with the third party seller.
Of course AMZN can reach out to the bank and file a fraud case, but if the scammer knows what he is doing,he would have withdrawn that $80k before his ex employer found out and close his bank account.
After this incident,AMZN comes up with this policy-
before you replace existing bank account with a new bank account, you must enter the existing bank account number ,not just the last 4 digits

According to you, where you say ebay is looking for the names to match, will my account be compromised in the future?
--------
I am saying some day Ebay will care that the EBAY name and Bank name should match,it looks like right now,it is not checking to see if they match.based on what some of you said on this forum.
I am trying to think, when Ebay used Paypal before Ayden,PAYPAL did a lot of police work, does Paypal check to see if your PAYPAL name matches with bank name?
Initially I THINK it did,as we will have Johnnie Doe as Paypal name and try to link a bank name as JOHN DOE and it was rejected,so PAYPAL could have given up on verifying names?

From what I understand, when you enter your bank, you give ayden power of attorney over your bank account, debit and credit as they please.
--------
Who said that?
When I have my own merchant account,I know the bank which processes my credit card transactions can deposit sales proceed into my account AS WELL AS debiting my account in case of chargeback,in fact,it wont wait for the chargeback results to say I lost,it will go ahead and hold on to some of my money as soon as a customer initiate a charge back.
So does it mean it has the power of attorney,I dont think so.
any one else care to comment?

Sammysquare is the one who thinks Ayden has the power of attorney over our bank account.
I guess I dont understand the power of attorney, what power does he have over anyone ;s bank account?

I see so Managed Payments is a different entity in it's self. And what I'm getting from the forums is that even though I register for Manage Payments on the eBay website, eBay it's self can not see, review or record the information I'm inputting. If that's true, that's pretty cool but I still don't trust eBay (Why not just go stealth with the ebay account and managed payments aswell.)

As for paypal all the benefits it offered is cool, but the biggest one for me is the ability to transfer money to different paypal accounts for what ever reason. Purchases, Withdrawals, etc. I must admit I do prefer managed payment over paypal when it comes to ebay selling though less obstacles.

Ebay is ebay.

They hired Adyen a processing company to run their payment system called Managed Payments.

It's like when a business hires the bank credit card processor to process client's payments for them

Interesting, so regarding ebay. You mentioned that the bank account name must match. From what I understand, when you enter your bank, you give ayden power of attorney over your bank account, debit and credit as they please.

So I have been entering my banks in manuelly, with mismatched names, (Acc number, Transit number etc. ). This allows me to get the 2 micro deposits sent by ebay to approve the bank.

According to you, where you say ebay is looking for the names to match, will my account be compromised in the future?

This member of the community said ebay gets power of attorney when you sign up for managed payments. I havnt read the policy my self, but im assuming he did.

Regarding paypal, before managed payments was a thing, every single one of my paypal accounts were mismatched names for the bank account. I am in canada, so I don't know if its different for you in the states.

I created the stealth ebay account with mismatched names. One name for ebay and managed payments, but the bank account uses a completely different name. It is my opinion that the only party that cares and can verify mismatch names is the bank it's self, the bank only known of the mismatch when a deposit comes into the account under a different name. Which is some cases the reject it or they seldomly allow such deposits but may give you a hard time if it is repetitive.

It's easy to get confused when there are members posting on subjects they really dont know anything about.

Adyen are a payment processing company that ebay are using to directly manage customer payouts.

The notion of supplying "stealth" info to ebay and "real" info to Managed Payments is just nonsense. If you open an ebay account with stealth info and then provide real info when making the first listing (which is MP signup), you will automatically change the registered name and address on the ebay account.

When selling on ebay from a customer perspective you are only dealing with one entity and that's ebay and not Adyen, Ebay Managed Payments or anything else.

From what I read on this forum,it seems possible to have a stealth Ebay account and linked it with a bank account which is in your real name.
Unlike Paypal, you cant keep your sales proceeds in your Paypal account or send it to another Paypal account or convert to a different currency

Yep, I have been doing this for awhile now. The challenge is identity verification. I dont know if its an issue tbh, but i have an active store right now, and dont feel like experimenting on my name.

Ain't that the truth, and some of them are long standing members.

Do you think they even sell online, I reckon not.

I would say 99 % of them sell on line, else they would not be on this forum.
As a person who has been selling since the early days of Ebay,I found most of them know what they are talking about, may be your expectation is too high, hoping they would come up with a easy solution for your problem

Yeah I have been doing this for 7 years now. Selling on ebay entails alot more then just acc creation. Accounts is probably half the battle imo.

Most Ebay sellers do not use stealth account, but Ebay is no longer the same as its early days.
If Ebay is an economic indicator, then I would conclude most people are poorer now!
