Re: Multiple eBay accounts on 1 Phone
Using multiple accounts on a mobile device is generally not recommended, as mobile devices tend to "leak" more identifiable information than a PC, but in different ways. Unlike a PC, where it is easier to control and limit tracking factors, mobile devices share more persistent and unique identifiers that make them easier to track, even if you use different browsers.
On a PC, websites mainly rely on browser fingerprinting, which includes details like your IP address, screen resolution, installed plugins, and cookies. These can often be controlled or altered using browser isolation, user profiles, virtual machines, or anti-detect setups.
On a mobile device, eBay and other platforms can track additional, harder-to-spoof identifiers such as the device's IMEI, MAC address, unique hardware ID, and even motion sensors. These identifiers persist across browsers, making it much harder to operate multiple accounts undetected.
On PC, using separate browsers, sandboxing, or different user profiles can isolate account activity to some extent.
On mobile, apps installed on the same device (even if not actively used) can share data between them. If you have the eBay (or one of their partner) apps installed while also accessing different accounts via browsers, eBay can still correlate data.
Mobiles have additional sensors (GPS, gyroscope, accelerometer) that can provide further tracking data.
If you must use mobile devices, use entirely separate phones for different accounts.
A better alternative is to use a small portable laptop instead of a mobile or tablet. Laptops allow for better control over tracking methods and make it easier to isolate accounts.
By using a properly configured PC or laptop instead of a mobile device, you reduce the risk of linking accounts due to persistent device identifiers and cross-app tracking.
