No,i have been riding Lyft lately,I am amazed how easy and fast I can get a driver to show up,they can be students, retirees, full time drivers, part timers,
Some claim they dont need the money, they just like the extra $$ and they love to drive, drive, drive.
But I get the feeling, they could all use the extra $$ ,riders are not tipping these days,

Well, I think that you say that you like to drive and drive is not so true. Nobody works this way to take people and you run security risks, simply now we need more money and if you have a car and can drive, that's what you can do.

I am not a good driver, not good enough to take people here and there amid all the traffic.
But I cant imagine they all tell me they just love to drive?

Before Lyft and Uber,it is impossible to get a cab unless you are at the airport or downtown business area, and now in a few seconds, you can get one anywhere.
Taxi drivers used to go to the airport, and wait in a parking lot with food truck, lounge with shower facility and TV ,they wait their term to go to the airport taxi stand.
After taking the rider into the city, then they have to decide whether they should go home or go back to the parking lot and wait for the next ride.
Back and forth from airport to the city ,their gas bills could be half of their gross. intake

You can go to Youtube and find out,I looked at some few years ago, average is like $9.85.hour including all the overhead like gas,auto,Uber/Lyft fees,$9.85 back then is slightly higher than the US govt minimum wage.
Just a few days ago,the LYFT driver told me she paid $365/week to rent a car from Lyft, she made that much in 3 days, she works 6 days a week.
Most drivers use their own car, these days few passengers tip,I doubt they are getting rich driving.
