I learn from some one here posted that once a lobster dies,it emits green gas and its meat just go soft and soggy/
I have that experience twice ,as they try to fool you by passing on the dead ones.they will play switch a roo ,you pick a life one and they give you a dead one/

yes - does depend on how long it's been dead for - shops in general wouldn't general sell the dead ones that couldn't be boiled and get into problem with health inspectors....generally...

I read for a moment Dungarees - enough about buying dead things - maybe just avoid them

I think what they should do once they remove the dead lobsters from the tank is to boil them right away and sell them as cooked lobster.
This supermarket has fresh seafood from Fulton Market daily and I see most of them are marked down,I guess eating fresh seafood is discretionary?

IF they're selling them as cooked lobster then that's different - they just want to salvage the dead ones to avoid spoilage.

Fresh seafood is always discretionary but there's a quality control process for most supermarkets...
