Default Which ISP should I use if I want a dynamic IP that can be changed manually?

This used to be the norm as far as I have been aware but ever since I have been a customer of Spectrum, I have not been able to manually switch my ip address by unplugging the router for a few minutes and back in. Since roughly 2017.

I have been using VPN's from 24vc for a year now and my success has only been about 7 or 8 times out of about 30. I'm tired of paying $20+ tax only to get a suspended ebay account a short time later (most recent one happened after 3 weeks).

I live in southwest ohio. I think my last provider was either verizon or at&t but I can't remember. I'm also unable to change anything with Spectrum because I am not the account owner and the account owner would never authorize me to have my own access.

Any more info needed?

Just to discuss - have you tried hotspot via your cell as IP provider?

rsot, no I have not and haven't the slightest idea how to go about that.

agent, there are only a couple providers available where I live and spectrum is the main one.

On the positive note, I have been able to login to my spectrum app and see my router and modem. But I still need to figure out a way to manually change ip address whenever I want. I'm not sure if that's even possible now.

I can't recommended that particular VPN service - overly used.

Moo_Moo, on your cell phone, you should be able to go to settings -> connections -> Mobile Hotspot and Tethering...fairly easy from there

Thanks rsot. I was indeed able to go to mobile hotspot and tethering however I hit a wall there. All the options are grayed out and not selectable. Is there something I'm missing?

just buy a dongle and connect to mobile internet , I don't think ohio does not have this , even poor third world countries have such internet

if you need this on the phone rather than computer then you switch the phone off and on

home router I would not recommend , broadband usually does not allow to change IP or it makes this very difficult so that turning it off and on does not help
