Default Hello everyone around the world !!!

I’m just an ordinary person, and I’ve been selling on and off on eBay for decades—mostly in small amounts, with items I found at garage sales or local liquidation stores. A couple of months ago, I changed my phone number, and after that I discovered that my eBay account had been restricted from buying or selling on the site.

I had several phone conversations with eBay customer service, but they advised me to create a new account instead. However, I’m still holding on to my original account and hoping to resolve the issue.

Now I’m here to learn from everyone, and I hope I can get my account back sooner.

Welcome to the forum!
I'm surprised they would advise you to create a new account. If I were you I would continue trying to restore the original account. And if you're able to get a new seller account going.. use that one too.

why would changing phone number get you into trouble with Ebay?
Is it a new phone number,is it yours?

They sometimes request ID when changing phone numbers.

could it be that new phone used to belong to someone else and that someone has/had an account with Ebay?

There are probably more parameters involved, when it comes to these kinds of red flags being tripped.


Phone numbers get recycled all the time..

Sorry for the slow response to everyone’s posts. Last week, I was actually about to create another account with all of my information, the same as the original account, since I have two phone numbers: one for work and one for personal use. I originally used my personal number when the account was first created on eBay, but now I wanted to switch all my eBay accounts to my business phone number. At the same time, I was also trying to restore my original account, and I successfully got it back. Now, I’ve started building feedback on the new account while continuing to sell items on the original account as usual. I’m so glad everything is back on track now, and hopefully I won’t have to encounter these headaches again in the future. Thanks to everyone who replied to my post and gave me such good advice.
